All of a sudden MS word started showing all of the formatting characters. For example, each space is represented by a dot and between lines I see paragraph symbols. How do I turn this off?

1. On the Word menu, click Preferences, and then click View.
2. Under Nonprinting characters, select the check boxes next to the characters you want to display.
Tip To display all formatting marks, select the All check box instead of selecting each individual check box. You can also turn the All option on or off by clicking Show/Hide the paragraph mark.

Go to Tools> Options and click the View tab.
Unselect "Paragraph Marks" under the Formatting Marks section.

The "P and T" image is a paragraph marker. It shows the place you typed a complicated return (to start a clean paragraph). The dots between words tutor the place you hit the area bar. those symbols are sensible for finished administration over a checklist. they are able to be substantial once you get into using kinds in MS observe. in case you like them off, the button that seems an identical could be clicked to tutor them off.

There's a button on the toolbar, it looks exactly the same as the paragraph symbol. Uncheck it. You may have to switch the formatting toolbar on.
