How much do you pay on average?

I do it myself.
If I don't know what the problem is, then I do research, mostly online, until I do. I used to build, upgrade and repair computers for people, and I charged $50 an hour plus parts. This was 1997-2002.

If you look in your local newspaper under computer repair in the classified section, there are usually free-lance people like me who advertise occassionally. Most will give you references if you request them. If they won't, go somewhere else.

I fix it myself because I am a technician. It only costs me parts if I need them.
