Usually around large bodies of water is where production occurs, becuse of the cost of transportation. Other advanages: Hydro-electric dams, & cooling of other types of electric power plants. All large bodies of water have heavy manufactoring facilities close to them. Mississippi has manufactoring, great lakes, Gulf of Mexico, both the Atlantic & the Pacific. The manufactoing facilities will be close to the ports.

Almost all of them. Both oceans, the gulf coast, the great lakes, and major rivers all over the United States.
