Our annual calendrical dating is off by several years, due to calendrical changes in antiquity and the Dark Ages, so we really do not know the true year. Even research on the birth of Christ that separates B.C. from A.D. is being pushed back, now to 7 B.C. and perhaps next to 8 B.C. So the Mayan Final Year of 2012, the end of the current Sun Age, is difficult to determine as when this will actually transpire.

There are a wide host of theories proposing all kinds of events for 2012, e.g. realignment of the Earth to the Galactic Center launching a New Age of Man; to a Discontinuity Event from a celestial cosmo-cataclysm of trans-terrestrial bombardment that catapults the world into a Neobarbaric State to begin the slow and gradual process of recivilization all over again.

Only time will tell.

The end of the 13th b'ak'tun is conjectured to have been of great significance to the Maya, but does not necessarily mark the end of the world according to their beliefs, but a new beginning or time of re-birth. According to the Popol Vuh, a book compiling details of creation accounts known to the Quiché Maya of the colonial-era highlands, we are living in the fourth world. The Popol Vuh describes the first three creations that the gods failed in making and the creation of the successful fourth world where men were placed. The Maya believed that the fourth world would end in catastrophe and the fifth and final world would be created that would signal the end of mankind.

The last creation ended on a long count of 13.0.0.0.0. Another 13.0.0.0.0 will occur on December 21, 2012, and it has been discussed in many New Age articles and books that this will be the end of this creation or something else entirely. However, the Maya abbreviated their long counts to just the last five vigesimal places. There were an infinite number of larger units that were usually not shown. When the larger units were shown (notably on a monument from Coba), the end of the last creation is expressed as 13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.0.0.0.0, where the units are obviously supposed to be 13s in all larger places. In this age we are only approaching 0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.13.0.0.0.0, and the larger places are nowhere near the 13s that would match the end of the last creation. (Schele and Friedel 1990: 430)

This is confirmed by a date from Palenque, which projects forward in time to 1.0.0.0.0.0, which will occur on October 13, 4772 (a Friday). The Classic Period Maya likely did not believe that the end of this age would occur in 2012. According to the Maya, there will be a baktun ending in 2012, a significant event being the end of a 13th 400 year period, but not the end of the world.

2012 is the year that was predicted in Hopi and Mayan calendar several civilizations before the dawn of Christianity. It was discovered in the ancient ruins depicting Mayan civilizations and their calendar is said to be an accurate calculations of the earth's early lives.
This generation according to some Biblical scholars coincide to the three days in The Lord since the advent of Christ that was recorded to be more than 2500 years old if you base the day of the Lord as 1000 human years for every 1 day of the Lord.
As much as possible I tried not deal with long explanation by qouting Chapters and verse of the Christian Bible so let me just point to all what chapters and verses in Thessalonia will say that the end of the world is not the world itself but world of religions.which have been the instruments to all the great deception that made us wander and kept slaves from ignorance of the truth about our God. Read 2Thessalonians 2:2-11.just read it ponder and understand.

The Bible teaches the world will never end. What WILL end, though, is the current evil system the world labors under. This will happen when Jesus Christ returns, following the 7-year Tribulation. The world will be further purified after Jesus' 1,000 year reign. But this earth will still exist.

Having said that, I can assure you 2012 couldn't possibly be the year He returns. Even if the Tribulation started today, this still means the 7-year Tribulation (Daniel 9:27) must occur; Daniel 12:11-12 tells us Jesus will return 45 days after the end of the Tribulation.

No, the world will end when Christian and Islamic fundamentalists start predicting the armageddon. See book of Revelations & final chapter in Quran


Of course, the above statement and 2012 is fairy tales.
Also, the Mayan calendar at 2012 will reset, so it is not the end of the world at all. According to the Mayans, the world will end in another 3000 years.

No, a disease will wipe out most of mankind leaving only a handful of survivors. Some survivors will have to struggle to find food and stay alive during the day. During the night they have to hide from a group of mutated homicidal maniacs that plague the earth and wish to claim it for themselves. They will be sensitive to light and look like albinos with lesions all over their body. Its gonna be rough, don't forget your I POD.

Im a true beliver in, when it happens, we wont know. I dont belive in hell, I dont belive that if we sin, were going to hell, i think god will Forgive all if we have Faith in him. He doesnt expect us to go to church to worship him. I think, when the world ends, It will end Quick . I really dont know when it will END, coulld be Hundreds of years from now, Or even Thouasnds, This question been a Mystery & church Goers go On & on about it. They Drive me batty. LOL but as for my Answer?
