The "hygiene" issue doens't play, everyone stinks after weeks of not showering. It doesn't matter about strength, bullets travel just as fast whether a man or woman pulls the trigger. The last time I checked it was still a volunteer Armed Forces, and lastly I asked "in combat", not in a combat zone.

I believe it is because they believe that some of the men will throw themselves in front of the women to keep her from getting hit just because she is a woman..forget the fact that they would do the same for any of the guys...and truth be told they can do a lot more to a female prisoner than a male...
At one time there were more women that men in the Israeli army

They may kick @$$ , but they Can't and Won't go for weeks on end without a shower. It is hygenically impossible, if you get my drift.... Besides, what would they do when they run out of tampons while in the field?
I'm not trying to be sexist, these are just some real life incidentals that alot of people don't give any thought to.

Honestly, it's because Republicans use it as an issue to get votes. Same with gays in the military, Clinton allowed gays to serve in military as long as they kept it a secret, and Republicans used it as an issue to drum up the base and try to win elections.
It's the same as 60 years ago when African-Americans couldn't serve in combat, only as cooks or truck drivers, because people thought they were somehow inferior.
And to the people above talking about "hygene", are you serious? Don't you know that human beings lived for 10s of thousands of years without showers or baths or tampons or maxi pads? All of your ancestors did it.

Sorry, you're wrong. They're not suited for combat and there are VERY few women as strong as the very weakest of men. There might be a handful that work out at Venice Beach, California who have built manly bodies and strength - that's about it.

If the military allowed women who were "kick-a**" then they'd also have to allow those who couldn't handle it. Think of your mother, sister, friend, whoever. Could they run around in the hot sun with 100 rounds of gear strapped all over their bodies for hours at a time?
