What is the "C E" I see on so many labels?

First noticed on home health equipment but have also seen it elsewhere

This is a little complicated and the web site I listed give good details but basically it is:-

"CE" are the abbreviation of French phrase "Conformité Européene" which literally means "European Conformity"

CE Marking on a product is a manufacturer's declaration that the product complies with the essential requirements of the relevant health, safety and environmental protection legislation
