What people are really worried about is that more white British people are converting to Islam out of their own will and people are threatened by so many people converting.
Muslims have received alot of exposure recently because of 9/11 and people seem to think they are everywhere. There are less than 2 million out of 60 million.
Also just because some loudmouths say things like why do white women wear mini skirts doesn't mean the majority of Muslims say don't wear it. It means we object to it because of our religion, not that we really want all your women covered up, I am a girl and I want women to cover up because I think it looks classier. Not because I want to convert everyone in sight.
Like the British say : freedom of speech.
I really dislike it when Muslims drink alcohol or girls wear clothes that do not comply with modest dress but obviously anybody who is not a Muslim can do what they like- nothing to do with me and I have no right to say anything.

I completely agree with the veil issue, Muslim should not wear it here in light of the security issue. It does not say it in the Quran that they have to wear it and they completely isolate themselves.
Obzi: Just because I am a Muslim doesn't mean that I would disagree with everything you say. If you had said it in a offensive way then I would not have liked your answer. You said it in a very rational and reasonable way and that can only be appreciated.
I watched the Cat Stevens biography on the Biography Channel and became very angry that Salman Rushdie was applauded by the Western Media for attacking the Quran. Iranian PM Khomeini issued a death warrant (reasonably in my eyes! I actually found it very funny). All Cat Stevens had said was that the book should be banned in a diplomatic way, via the right procedure. He was attacked by the media and radios stopped playing his music- they chose to misinterpret him and were really punishing him for converting at ther height of his fame.

Part of it is because we see Muslims in the UK getting away with so much, a lot of it is because Politicians and even the Police are scared to say or do anything which will brand them a racist or start a religious riot.
You must admit that the bombings and other recent terrorist events were done by Muslim people, not Christian, not Hindu, not Jewish, not any other religion. What happened to all the people who have been 'outed' by Muslims who were known to have undergone training in Pakistan camps? How many have been handed over to the Police who were planning to cause a terrorist act?
Then there's people like Abu Hamza who openly preach death to the rest of us, and it takes YEARS to get him to stop and out of the country, why??????
And why did so many Muslims not condemn him and assist his removal? Why was he allowed to continue saying these things in a Mosque?
Next issue is the dress of many Muslim women and particulally the Veil.
In this country and after everything that has happened, how can we from a security point of view possibly allow ANYONE walk around where their identity is completely masked?
If i was put on a black balaclava and walk into a bank, school or airport it wouldn't take long before i was looking down a barrel bellonging to an armed policeman and quite right too.
The anger you see is coming from absolute frustration where we things are completely in your favour and yet this is NOT a Muslim country, it is mainly Christian and i say this with no beliefs in any religion.
I don't expect 'best answer' here, i just want you to start and see it from our side.

Because some mosques were subverted by Wahhabi extremists and preached an independent muslim state within the UK (ie non-integration ) incited murder, and carried out murder of UK citzens in their own country. Muslims compared with other migrant communties, have made a very bad impression although a minority. I know it's only a few ( at the moment), but no country needs the claptrap that came out of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Just be like the Chinese, live and let live and prove to the people of this country that you are here to be British, first and foremost, and not use and abuse this ancient nations' freedoms and hospitality.

I agree with Obzi and like to add that Islam is divisive;it split India into India and Pakistan and later split Pakistan into Pakistan and Bangladesh. Why do Pakistani leaders always end up being assasinated?Every time the stability of Pakistan is threatened it makes verbal attacks on India. Our fear is that the same will happen here when muslim population increases.
