You don't want to look like one of those blondes who look like they dye their roots brown.

The color combo sounds good but you run the risk of it looking as if you have a major problem with your roots showing when you dye the bottom dark like that. Usually people that do that have platinum blond or another unnatural hair color so it's obvious that it was done purposely.
Make sure it's uneven (jagged) looking and possibly try dyeing a few strands of black from the top down as well, like a black highlight. Test it first with a temporary black dye. If you mess up with the permanent dye you'll have to dye it all black, cut it off or look like an idiot for a long time. I've used hair stripping treatments to remove black dye many times and it destroyed a lot of hair.

Yikes, don't do that to yourself. Havn't you ever seen the "hump" wearing black shirt and pants w/ brown belt and shoes? Those 2 colors just do not belong together. How about some highlights with various shades of brown. Get 3 or 4 different shades of brown.. that would be money!

i think it'll look punk, and if that's how you want it to look then go for it.
i have brown hair and i highlighted it many times and really liked highlights, but they get expensive (of course, dye does too).

I think that style is so out if I were you I would dye it and then highlight it I think you would look good : )

no it might not look right cuz it depend on how long ur hair is & what ur skin tone is but if u want to dye it then do it!
