You know I never understood it until I met my husband, and this is just my experience but her goes.....

Love does so much more than hurt, it clings, and pulses, and twists everything you've ever known to be true, and at the same time it's the greatest, most exhilarating feeling... You're happy, and the feelings are so strong they overload your senses. You lose control and yourself in someone else, and that is so scary.

And the saying "you don't know what you've got till it's gone"
or
"if you love something set it free, if it returns...blah blah blah"

These things aren't supposed to make sense, and when you find the one, the "REAL" ONE and all the things you've seen in movies and all the relationships in the past that you thought were RIGHT that you now realize were nothing more than a waste of time, it's all a little overwhelming, but if it's true, unbridled love, you can never really walk away, it follows you in songs you hear and things you see and smell.....

The worst thing about walking away from it is that sometimes you stray too far from love and can't find you're way back, I was lucky, and I hope you are too.......

Sometimes, because of previous bad experience with the wrong sort of SOs or perhaps because of abuse or abandonment by a parent or some other thing that undermines their expectations of others or their own sense of self-worth, they assume from the beginning that things will not go well. Then at some point as love grows they become scared of how bad it will hurt them when it ends so they do a preemptive breakup.

Other times they may not really want to leave, but the person they're with is doing or involved in things they are really really not comfortable with. (Drinking, drugs, robbery, joining a cult, whatever.)

And sometimes they didn't really love the other person, but acted like it because of some sense that it was what was expected of them.

I'm sure there must be fifty ways leave a lover.

Sometimes when a person walks away from their love, the person could fall out of love with the person they love, they can probably not take what him/or her has done to them. They can also find out a secret from the person that they have been hiding for a while.

The best answer that I can offer is this. One of the largest struggles that we combat is our own self worth. When we walk away from things that are good for us, we are making the statement:"I am not deserving of these (people, things, etc...)that have REAL value, because I have no value. It is the lack of self esteem that would allow us to walk away from those who love us.

Not all people "walk away" from people they love. I am happily in love with my husband.

Sometime's it's "for the best." Say your best friend liked him too. You might walk away so she could have him. Or you know it could only end in tears. Or because it's morally wrong. Loads of reasons...

Because there are some relationships that no matter how hard you want it to work out, will just never change and you have to make that choice, it's one of the hardest things you'll ever have to do.
