can rinsing your mouth out with salt water several times a day give you a soar throat? I just had some teeth pulled and my dentist told me to do that so I have been and now my throat is very red and feels raw and soar.

Yes it is very possible. Just think of what happens when you eat a lot of pretzels. Your lips become chapped. The salt dries the lining of your mouth. It's good to help clean out the areas the dentist worked on, but not the greatest for overall comfort. I guess it does beat getting an infection though. It should heal quickly once you quit the salt water.

I think you put too much salt and maybe you could rinse your mouth lesser times than you're doing now.

Don't use too much salt. It is probably just irritating your tonsils. I'd call the dentist and ask them.

I used ot work for an oral surgeon and we only asked that to be done once or twice to help control the taste and bleeding. As them again how often it should be done.
