A yorkie is a toy breed. There is no such thing as a teacup yorkie.

A Yorkie is a Yorkie. A Yorkie is a Toy breed of dog. Toy dogs bred smaller then the standard calls for often have serious health issues..so don't fall for the marketing ploy of "teacup" or try to find a dog bred smaller then the standard calls for.Look for a well bred Yorkie from a responsible breeder.

"Teacup" or "Imperial" sized dogs are bred for size by unethical breeders. These dogs often have many medical conditions, as a result from breeding them to be that size. The breeders are worried about getting smaller puppies, and disregard their health.
People are obsessed with making things smaller, these unethical breeders are capitalizing on that, and it's the dogs who suffer.
Do NOT support unethical breeders!
Yorkies should be 4-7 pounds...if that's too big of a dog, get a hamster...

There is a breed call yorkshire terriers and they are in the toy breed catigory. They do stay small 3-7lbs. The teacup thing is a gimic to "sell" undersized dogs. http://www.akc.org/breeds/yorkshire_terrier/index.cfm this site should help.

a toy yorkie is a "designer" or fad dog---it is not recognized by the akc. no such thing as a teacup either----just irresponsible people breeding dogs smaller and smaller as that seems to be where the demand is now.

i've seen teacup yorkies as small as about 3 or 4 lbs.- but a dog that small probably isn't very healthy or well behaved

NO THEY ARE ALL JUST YORKSHIRES. TO GET A TINY YOU HAVE TO SEE THE PARENTS... IF THEY ARE BIG THE OFF SPRING CANT BE SMALL... EVEN THE RUNT HAS THE GENES TO GET BIG LIKE MOM OR DAD. CHECK THE FAMILY TREE.! A TINY ONE WILL COST THE MOST AS TINY YORKIES ONLY HAVE ONE OR TWO BABIES, MAYBE THREE. SO SHOP AROUND. IF THEY WONT SHOW BOTH PARENTS DONT BUY... I ONCE SAW a 32 lb. yorkie ! try "puppy find.com".
