I use Irfanview all the time to resize images.
OPen Irfanview
OPen image you want to resize
Press R (Control R)
Make sure Preserve Aspect Ratio is checked.
As you know there are several ways to change the image size.
Select how you want to make it smaller or larger, and click OK
The image should now be larger or smaller . I usually use 640x480 as a standard.
Now you need to save the file for the changes to be permanent. If you don't want the original size just hit save and ok and it will replace the original file with the new image.

Do you have Microsoft workplace photograph supervisor? once you open a photo making use of that, you could resize your photograph. bypass to the photograph gadget bar, and choose resize, or compress photograph. each and each will paintings for attaching a %. The compress photograph will make it particularly small. that's particularly helpful to objective resizing it manually first to verify if it is going to help connect it at a touch smaller length.

resize images like crop them? or resize like change their memory space they take up? If you are trying to do the latter, then open the picture with paint(after you have the cropped portion that you want) and resave under a different name. It will reduce the file size dramatically.

The "ACD See" or "Fast Stone Image Viewer" or "Photo Filtre" will do much better than "IrfanView". OK, there are other professional programs, but it seems you are not looking for those ones. Good Luck!

I think ifranview is little fuzzy. Try XNview another free image tool with easy interface. you can do a lot of enhancements with it. It is about 1.5Mb in size.
Still in Ifranview then,
Just click "Ctrl+R", I think u got it now
