First of all DON'T worry! He's a normally developing three-year-old boy!

I'm a preschool teacher and I see a LOT of boys who don't poop in the potty yet. (Girls are quicker to do so, for some reason)

Your doctor is right. Don't push him. Just keep encouraging him and get some really cool underpants. Believe me, the underpants with the pictures on them are highly motivating! You can give stickers whenever he does poop in the potty, but don't ever yell at him or make him feel bad if he doesn't.

I promise you, he will do it. Most boys just wake up one day and decide to wear underpants, and that's it. No more diapers.

Really... it will happen for you!

Good luck

there are multiple option to objective. a million. have you ever used the potty with him staring at you? Demonstration will help him understand that adults do it too, and that's area of being a great boy. 2. place him on the potty your self each and every 2 hours and ask him each and every so oftentimes if he needs to apply the potty. 3. Create a celeb chart. each time he makes use of the potty he gets to place a celeb on the chart and if he gets 10 stars then he gets a prize. 4. Make going to the potty exciting. I enjoyed the cheerios thought.

i found it was an issue of trust. i took my son (20 months) and had him sitting on the potty. i repeatedly assured him that it was okay to go poopers on the potty. it took a few minutes before he looked me in the eye and i could tell he was trying to see if i was being honest.

i told him again in a gentle voice, "I know it's scary - but it's okay. I'm here." then... plop. i just about cried.

he's not been "perfect" since then - but he goes go. and we celebrate every time.

Explain to him that both pee and poop go in the potty. If he poops in his underwear/diaper, then show him his diaper and tell him "See this poop? It doesn't go in your pants anymore, it goes in the potty now."

Yeah, email me, and I will forward you a copy of a potty training ebook that I found online. It worked awesome for my daughter.

Make it a game or make a big deal out of it
