doesn't that mean that only one can be right and all the rest are wrong and are going to be damned for an eternity in hell. Seriously, i'm tired of people claiming that they are the only true religion/ denomination. It sickens me.

I'm a Catholic Christian, and this is what the Catechism of the Catholic Church has to say about non-Catholics and non-Christians:

"Outside the Church there is no salvation"

846 How are we to understand this affirmation, often repeated by the Church Fathers? Re-formulated positively, it means that all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body:

Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his body which is the Church. He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and Baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through Baptism as through a door. Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it.

847 This affirmation is not aimed at those who, through no fault of their own, do not know Christ and his Church:

Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience - those too may achieve eternal salvation.

848 "Although in ways known to himself God can lead those who, through no fault of their own, are ignorant of the Gospel, to that faith without which it is impossible to please him, the Church still has the obligation and also the sacred right to evangelize all men."

Yes, that's what it means. And yes, this means that apparently, all these "benign, loving, merciful, and ONLY" gods out there have been condeming billions of innocents to eternal damnation for the sin of being born in the wrong place.

Sound like a load of crap to you too?

What most people (especially Christians) seem to forget is that God, is he exists, is INFINITE. No single book can contain all of His truth. All the books in the world could not contain all the truth of the universe. And all the scholars in the world couldn't understand that truth anyway. Personally, I think that God clued into this a long time ago (from our point of view - I don't think God perceives time at all, but that's a different story) and decided to give some parts of the truth to one group and other parts of the truth to another group, so that if we ever wanted to have any chance of really understanding things, we'd need to encorporate ALL religions into our thinking, figure out what is common to them and really important, and weed out all the bogus crap that we flawed humans have added into our religions for one reason or another.

Bible prophesy was written for us, for an example and a warning. I am sorry that it sickens you, but I hope you will take the time to research and study so that maybe you can escape the fury that is coming.

mostly by using fact they have been taught from an exceedingly youthful age that the sole class that different faiths belong in is that of being spawn of devil. what's so eye-catching approximately it somewhat is the certainty that throughout addition they lump a number of their fellow Christians into this comparable boat. If somebody would not have faith interior an identical variety of Christianity, they are Satanists besides. What those detrimental sheep ought to truly do is seem into the religion of others and spot how lots they have in consumer-friendly, and have faith me there are so lots greater issues in consumer-friendly than in opposition in maximum religions.

That is exactly how the Catholic Church feels, because the post-Reformation age ended with Vatican II. Look at what the official catechism says on the matter:

817 In fact, "in this one and only Church of God from its very beginnings there arose certain rifts, which the Apostle strongly censures as damnable. But in subsequent centuries much more serious dissensions appeared and large communities became separated from full communion with the Catholic Church - for which, often enough, men of both sides were to blame." The ruptures that wound the unity of Christ's Body - here we must distinguish heresy, apostasy, and schism - do not occur without human sin:

Where there are sins, there are also divisions, schisms, heresies, and disputes. Where there is virtue, however, there also are harmony and unity, from which arise the one heart and one soul of all believers.

818 "However, one cannot charge with the sin of the separation those who at present are born into these communities [that resulted from such separation] and in them are brought up in the faith of Christ, and the Catholic Church accepts them with respect and affection as brothers. . . . All who have been justified by faith in Baptism are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as brothers in the Lord by the children of the Catholic Church."

819 "Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth" are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: "the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements." Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church. All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him, and are in themselves calls to "Catholic unity."

Note: The term "Catholic" is not a denomination, but an attribute. In other words, the Catholic Church is saying herself that she 'ain't the only candy store on the block'.

There are many paths which lead to the same destination. Some paths are shorter, some are longer. One path is not better or worse. They just have different twists and turns. Still they will each get you to the same destination.

This is the way I view all of the different religions. They all have value and will all take one to the kingdom of Heaven eventually.

It was Jesus who founded only one church, the Catholic Church, and who prayed that all would be as one.

His wishes were actually followed for about the first 1500 years of Christian history.

It was Jesus who also cautioned us that only the narrow road would lead to salvation, and that many who claim him as their God would be sent away disappointed on judgment day.

I'm sorry that Jesus sickens you.

One thing Jesus will do when he returns, is get rid of "false religion" along with anyone practicing it.

What is false religion?

Why does religion seem to be at the root of so many problems?
The fault lies, not with all religion, but with “false” religion.

False Religion...MEDDLES IN WAR AND POLITICS: How many religions can you think of whose members engage in war?

False Religion...SPREADS FALSE DOCTRINE: Most religions teach that the soul of spirit is some invisible part of a human that survives the death of the physical body. However, the Bible teaches a different doctrine. “The soul that is sinning, it itself will die.” Ezekiel 18:4 Jesus taught that the dead will be resurrected, an unnecessary action if humans had an immortal soul. Does your religion teach that the soul does not die?

False Religion...TOLERATES IMMORAL SEX: Church groups ordain gay and lesbian members of the clergy. What, though, does the Bible teach? It plainly states: “Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men.” 1 Cor. 6:9,10 Do you know of religions that condone immoral sex?

How to identify true religion.

True Religion...PRACTICES LOVE: True worshippers are “no part of the world,” are not divided by race or culture, and display “love among themselves.” Rather than killing one another, they are willing to die for one another.

True Religion...TRUSTS GOD'S WORD: Instead of teaching “tradition” and “commands of men as doctrines,” true religion bases its doctrine on God's Word, the Bible

True Religion...STRENGTHENS FAMILIES AND UPHOLDS HIGH MORAL STANDARDS: True religion trains husbands to “love their wives as their own bodies,” helps wives to develop “deep respect for their husbands,” and teaches children to “be obedient to their parents.”

True Religion is available, search for it.
