Great match up! Two all time greats. Arguello had that stand up style. He would get leverage by punching down at his opponents, as he was very tall for his weight class. Arguello also had heavy hands and could bang with the best of them. Duran in my opinion is one of the best ten boxers ever and an absolute animal, virtually unbeatable at lightweight. Duran would pressure Arguello as Pryor did. He would work Arguello's body, watch video of Duran while moving in he kept his upper body moving, making him hard to hit (a master at rolling with punches). As great as Arguello was I don't think he could deal with Duran's constant pressure. Duran wins by unanimous decision, due to his high work rate.

Great question! Two legends in this one and at one time it could have really happened. Arguello could really punch and was a very intelligent fighter. Duran was probably the greatest lightweight ever and his strength and punching power at this weight was incredible. This would have been a terrific fight and by no means an easy one for either fighter. I believe that Arguello would land some jabs, miss some and get countered with right hands by Duran who would also work the body of Arguello. I believe this fight goes this distance with Duran winning a close decision.

Arguello's Prime is at the 130 Lb. Divison

Duran is relentless yyet calculating puncher.

Duran never stops punching while arguello may Have a strong one punch power. I dont see that power putting a dent in Durans armor.

In Order to beat Duran Arguello must match Duran Firepower to Friepower which is very Unlikely.

My Pick Duran TKO7 Arguello.

Duran. I think he had the chin to take anything Arguello threw at him. Also Duran was a better boxer. He was hard to hit and was savage to the body. Arguello was great but Duran was a different animal. Any guy that was a former 135 lb fighter and could take Hagler to a split was crazy good.

would have been a great fight, i liked arguello as one of my favorite fighters but he was dominant at jr lightweight and duran eventually moved up to middleweight so i think that likely implies that he was naturally bigger, can`t see arguello knocking out duran but can see duran wearing arguello down ala aaron pryor and stopping him in the 14 th rd.
