Don't buy exotic hardwoods from the rainforest. Don't eat beef, as much of it is raised in fields which were once amazon rainforest, and which were bulldozed for the purpose of raising cattle. Put pressure on elected officials to place trade restrictions on companies that deforest the rainforest.

My answer is simple; do not go to McDonald's, do not raise cattle, and do not drive when you can easily walk. These are all causes of carbon emissions, and of paying the huge corporate demons that are solely responsible for the demise of our planet.

What can we do? It is the property mostly of Brazil and a few surrounding countries. It is there country and they probably don't like it when yanqui imperialist tell them what to do with it. We can encourage them to save as much as is practical for reserves.
