In many European countries, people regard nudity as an innocent fact of life. But if Janet Jackson exposes her nipple, we all go crazy. Is there any evidence that seeing a nipple is damaging to anyone, including young children?

I am not conservative or irrational and uptight but according to me there should be a limit to everything, including nudity in public.

Uncivilized humans in the stone age used to roam around naked because they didn't know better, as we got more civilized and more intelligent, we developed clothing to cover ourselves. Why are people now trying to go back to being uncivilized animals?

Noone's stopping you from doing whatever you want to in your house, why do you want to roam around naked in public now?

We are lucky to be in such a liberal country like America. Some countries in the world are much, much more conservative, irrational and uptight about several issues including nudity.

This is my opinion. I am not saying anyone's wrong, all I'm saying is that I think its ok to be a little 'uptight' about certain things. Be thankful for all the freedom you do have.

I was in Tahiti and the men and women use the same restroom at the same time. There are just some holier than thous who express negative opinions of nudity. I did not go crazy when Janet exposed a nipple, so don't say all, accidents do happen, you have to live with that.

I agree. Our country is too uptight about nudity and sex in general, when we show more violence than any other country. Grand Theft Auto Vice City was banned in many countries because of the extreme violence, but we give it to our children for Christmas. Sex is a normal and natural thing in life, it does not need to be considered something so terrible that it should be hidden so extremely. We all have nude bodies and see them everyday when we shower. Since when did you see a man running around the streets blowing people's heads off?

On the realistic side, if I saw a really hot guy nude, I would be unable to concentrate on anything else around me!!!

Many young children see a nipple all the time (breast feeding).

Americans have a taboo about nudity. It could be the dominance of Christianity, or it could be some remnant from the Victorian age. In many ways, it could stem from the overwhelming need for some people to control the actions of others by intimidation.

Unfortunately, many people in our culture still equate all forms of nudity with sexuality, and then proceed to condemn public nudity, no matter how innocent, as public sexuality and worthy of censure.

I love the nude beach and spend countless summer days there, but believe me it is not sexual. Sensual definitely, but like most innocent nudity, not sexual.

The Puritan influence remains strong in our culture, and we still continue to define various parts of our bodies as "bad" or "shameful" or "indecent"...how silly is that!

Realizing the joys of simple nudity, indoors or outdoors, alone or with others, public or private is something that we should all experience for the pure joy that's such a part of it.

The media more than any other source in this country is responsible for our concept of our naked bodies. If the media would dictate that nudity, including all shapes and sizes that it comes in, was socially acceptable, I'm quite sure that the ignorant and impressionable masses would be more accepting of it.

the problem with Janet Jackson was that it was a surprise on a family oriented program, and it was nasty on top of that.

people should be able to decide in advance if they want their children to see something.what if Jackson would have whipped out a shotgun and blew her boy-band flunky partners head off would you want children to see some thing like that.

in the correct format I think a woman's body is a work of art.

-----Not all the people in the USA are uptight about nudity. There are many nudist colonies. I am in Texas; I think there are about 13 in the state. I may go to one some day. -----Jim

Well... at least in the north east, we had the pilgrims come into the United States.... aka Puritans. They were a wacky bunch who were really uptight about things... makes sense that they put their stamp on our country.
