My grandmother was the leader of a coven way back in the 30's. She died 14 years before I was born. As a teenager, I saw things and heard things that nobody else could. I also woke up one night to find a brilliant ball of light floating outside of a window. It passed through the window and landed on top of my wardrobe. The light was extremely white and bright, yet the glow from it was no more than 5 inches away from it. The wardrobe made sounds as if breaking under the weight of the light. A short time later the light floated out in the direction it came in through the window. Needless to say, I was very frightened by the light, but I felt that it was trying to contact me. It may have been my grandmother trying to reach me. Is she the reason for my past experiences?

According to the 10 commandments (Exodus 20) spoken by the LORD God (Yahweh Elohim), the iniquities (idolatries, adulteries, etc...) are passed on to the 3rd & 4th generation of those who hate God. The blessings go onto the 1000s generations of those who love God.

If you're descended from a witch, you can "inherit" her abilities. But it isn't likely that you'll get them *because* she dies. Whether she's living or dead won't have anything to do with it. It's not like she had abilities that transferred to you because she died. While your grandmother died before you were born, you would likely still have these abilities if she were still alive.

A witch doesn't have to die for her descendants to have special abilities. It is mostly passed on genetically to begin with.
The light you saw could've been your grandma, but it could've been just about anyone else from the Other Side.
You never have to be afraid of white light. It is the purest of souls who appear as such. It could've even been an angel (if you believe in those).

Not all people with such gifts are witches.
Not all people in covens have gifts. Most are posers.
Some people come out of the blue with very real gifts. Some of them don't belong to any religious organization or designation at all.
Your gift is your gift. I would thank God for it. You might thank someone else. The point is, to learn. Don't take it for granted.

Yes, the descendants inherit all the witch's powers. Of course, since witchcraft is fake, there are no powers to inherit.

Since there's no such thing as the paranormal, I'd say no. But there's a much better chance she passed along some sort of hereditary mental disorder. You might want to get that checked out.
