Why in the world do people think it's COOL to smoke?

Most people do what they see other people do in TV or around them most don't think for themselves, they like to fallow the crowd and do like most other people do.
If they had a little visit tour at the hospital they could change their mind about smoking...

It's obvious that the cigarette can cause a lot a damage but being COOL is everything for those who don't have any principles in their life.
And they can't seem to decide by them self wither it's good for them or not they always want the approval of the cool people or at least pretend to be like them

-----Movies have made it look "cool" to smoke. I have heard rumors that the cigarette makers paid the movie makers to put in "cool" scenes showing the characters smoking. The professional actors / Hollywood can make most anything look "cool". During World War II, the cigarette makers donated huge numbers of cigarettes to the armed forces to be put in the meal packs of the servicemen, producting millions of people "hooked" on cigarettes. Cigarette smoking is addictive, both physically and psychologically. People may say / think that it is "cool" in order to hide the fact of their addiction from others and even from themselves, like alcoholics will say they only drink to be sociable. I had a roommate in college who said that; he seemed to spend every waking minute searching for places to go where he "had" to be sociable. Cigarette smoking gives people something to do with their hands; some find that comforting. -----Jim

Coming from a 15 year smoker who quit Father's Day of this year...

I used to think it was cool when I was a teenager, then it got away from me and became a habit - social, emotional, time passer; became my lifestyle.

Now that my lifestyle is changing and I'm thinking about starting a family, I've quit. We're not trying yet, but had to start somewhere at some point. I've learned that trying to change too many things about yourself at once is high risk for failure.

I am a smoker of 10 years. At first yeah, i thought it was cool, but now i regret the day i started and i don't have the will power to put them down.

i don't smoke cause it's cool, i smoke cause i enjoy the activity, and it makes me feel good. but if ppl think that's cool... that's better for me

because nicotine is such a powerful and addictive drug..they'd create any image to make it look good...I haven't touched a cigarette in 20 years and I feel much COOLER now...at least I don't smell or taste like an ashtray....sorry to you smokers but that's what it comes across like.
