How can anyone even call themselves a Christian without reading the whole bible? That would be like calling a person a scientist when they never studied science. And remember, lying is a sin...lol

Once you know the bible and understand you become an Atheist

Ah, they are numerous (and I am one of them). Some folks read the Bible on a regular basis. My wife has read the whole thing every year for about 5 of the last 6 or 7 and several before that.

Years ago I hear Derek Prince talk about how he was an atheist and was shipping off to war and took one sizeable book that he had never read before--the Bible--simply because he knew it influenced literature and various historical figures. His reading it persuaded him. Several times in history, various people start reading the Bible and it changed them. Martin Luther, John Wesley, etc.

As a caution, however, reading the Bible is not a requirement for Christianity. When Paul and Silas answered the Philippian jailer it was "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved" (Acts 16:30-31). And reading the Bible does not always do the job in human souls alone, consider the Ethiopian eunich in Acts 8, where he was reading but not understanding until he got help. A person can read it all day long, but if they don't understand it then it doesn't much help.

There was a story that someone of public notariety started reading the Bible and was asked, "Don't the parts that you can't understand bother you?" He answered something like, "Not like the parts I do understand." If reading it doesn't change us, then it didn't much matter. What matters for many though is that it did change them, whether they read a little or a lot.

I don't think that people who haven't read the bible to cover to cover and call themselves christians are liars. What about little children? do you really expect them to make it through the old testament and the book of revalations and stuff? Well, i have read the new testament but not the entire old testament. I still consider myself christian, though, because I study the book and read from it regularly even though I have not read the old testemant cover to cover. I do hope one day soon to read the entire old testament, however, because I know that I will be blessed for doing it. On the otherside, you can not call yourself a christian just because you read through the bible, that doesn't always mean something. Being a christian is more than just reading through a book.

Brother, what approximately each and every of the Christians down in the process the an prolonged time who the two did no longer have a Bible because of the fact it replaced into way too costly, or did no longer study? Even immediately there are people who are not waiting to study. Are they meant to attend until eventually somebody teaches them a thank you to study until eventually now they settle for Christ as Lord and Savior, and persist with Him? Romans 10:17 tells us "faith comes from listening to", no longer interpreting. as long because of the fact the be conscious is preached and taught, Christians can improve in Christ and persist with His teachings regardless of in the event that they're never waiting to study the Bible on their own.

A person is able to call himself/herself "Christian" once they have accepted the love and mercy of God into their heart and into their mind, and accepted salvation thru His Son, Jesus.

And how did you arrive at your qualification requirement? What percentage of "science" must a person read/study before that person can be called a "scientist"?

And, yes, I've read the Bible.

Although I believe in God, I don't "claim" a religion. And no, I haven't read the whole thing from front to back, because there's certain parts where it gets too damn boring. Especially where it tells who begat who and whatever.

The only person I know of who read it front to back was my great-grandpa on my maternal grandmother's side and he's long since passed away

Catholics who participate in Mass, which is about 90% scripture, cover almost the entire Bible in a 3 year period, because an orderly liturgical calender is followed.

Of the Christians I know, they have all read it front to back, but remembering it, and analysing it for meaning, is a different thing!! Many of them struggle with revelations too.
