i'm looking at these breeds puppy pictures and they look exactly the same..... are there any differences so that we know for sure that a puppie is a rottweiler and not a doberman?

a rottie will have a shorter wider head... MUCH wider at the for head , through the eyes. and a shorter snout thats more square. also a rottie will be wider at the chest than a dobie. the dobie is a slender dog even as a pup and the rottie is way more square in the head and chest even at birth. also the rottie will have a heavy eyebrow bone, compared to the dobie.. look on puppyfind.com and compare a bunch of both kinds of pups... hope this helps.

definitely not the same dog!!!!! i have a doberman and i don't see how you could confuse the two. rotties are "beefier" dogs unlike dobies which tend to be not as bulky. most people crop the ears and dock the tail on a doberman not on a rottie. the breeds are inherently different but have similar markings--dobies come in many colors --black and rust, red, blue(like a faded grey shade) and white(which is a genetic defect--not an akc recognized trait)----rotties are just black and rust

Rottie is broader head, stockier body and ears are not supposed to be cropped. You can search on the internet for images of Rottie pups and get some great images. Dobies have longer, narrower head and face than Rotties. Body is trimmer and the legs are longer (taller) You can search on the internet for images of Dobi pups also. If you can, ask to see the parents of the pup you are interested. Full grown Rotties and Dobies look nothing alike.
Good luck.

As pups, they are very similar, but rotties as pups are much fluffier than dobies. Rottweiler pups are also a bit wider and stalkier as pups, dobies will be a bit lankier.
Dobes faces as pups, are longer.... rotts will have more a bearish face.

If you are having trouble differentiating pups, I suggest more research and familiarizing yourself with both breeds until you can distinguish which is which.

Rot pups have short fat noses and Dobies have long skinny ones. The feet on a Rot pup are usually fat and wide. Dobies feet are more petite. The colors are very similar. Sure fire way ask to see the parents of the pup you want!

size is a big factor, small or grown rottweilers are much more "built" so to speak and dobies tend to be more slender

It's more fun to get a mutt from a shelter and try to figure out what it's mixed with.
