How do you know if they are telling the truth (i.e.not illusion)? How come all people see ghosts will generally/usually asked to see psychiatrist, but not a pastor/Rev./Father? Those depicted in movie,"John Constantine" are true? WHAT DO YOU THINK?

My psychiatrist asked me about "ghosts" that I saw at home. At first he didn't believe me but I told him that my mom and my 3 years old saw "them" as well. He said nothing....but still I was on Zyprexa, lowest dosage. I am not diagnosed as schizo but I was on antipsychotic Rx.

GOOD QUESTION. I believe that schizophrenics illusions are real. Their brain function different from normal humans allowing them to perceive things that normal people cannot see or hear. They see the people that died, and did not go to the "other world" because they do not know they died. I believe that all mental illnesses are caused by spirits (epilepsy, depression, panic attacks, anxiety). I agree that people with schizophrenia should see a pastor besides the psychiatrist. I suffered from panic attacks which I felt that a spirit was attacking my aura, I felt a extreme fear. I would LOVE to hear more from you. Please write me to my e-mail: Argentox2@yahoo.com. I am also taking Zyprexa.

Schizophrenia is not the same thing as Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD), but yes, a disembodied person with MPD in life would likely remain in whatever personality was current at the time of death. This is a very interesting question actually. The personality eventually would die anyway, leaving only the spirit to survive, but I suppose for awhile the entity in question would be significantly confused either way.

80% of scizo's have only auditory episodes (hear voices)
most don't see things.
That is a really good question about seeing 'spirits' though.
Zyprexa 10 mg is the typical maximum dose.I heard/read that in 1998 Eli Liily sold a 50 mg tab.
I took it right off the bat in 1996 actually before that in hospital inpatient setting 'trial study'
Eli Lilly is in trouble for using their drug reps to 'encourage' doctors to write zyprexa for non-FDA approved 'off label' uses.
The drug causes increased diabetes risk, and medicare picks up all the expensive fallout. There are now 8 states going after Lilly for fraud and restitution.

Many people with schizophrenia have very limited insight into their illness. They may have difficulty accepting that they have a serious mental illness and often attribute hallucinations of "voices" or "visions" to ghosts or spirits. It's more comforting to them to think the voices they're hearing are spirits visiting them and not a disease that's affecting their brain.

Anyone is capable of seeing ghosts.
I see them, I hear them, and I feel them. I consider myself gifted in a weird sort of way. Some people go through their entire life and don't see of feel anyone or anything.
There's nothing wrong with it and YOU ARE NOT CRAZY.

I suppose they can see ghosts if ghosts want to be seen, but schizophrenia is not a pre-requisite for seeing ghosts.

They can see whatever their mind tells them.
usually you know they aren't lying because they are so persistant.
hallucination could be a side effect of the medication.
