Assuming you have some sort of parrot or parakeet, corn on the cob and fruits like apples, pears and grapes usually go down a treat. Mine get some grated carrot to chew on though most of that usually ends up on the floor. I have also heard of cooked potato though never tried it.
Around spring and early summer you will often see grasses seeding, if you pick a bunch of this for your birds they will absolutely worship you (make sure the grass you get is free from any pestacides or weedkillers). You can also grow grasses from the seed you usually feed to your birds. Its very easy to do. You need to wet some kitchen role and place it in a shallow dish, add a layer of seed and place it in a sunny place. It is important to keep the kitchen roll moist. When it starts to sprout you can pick the seeds off the kitchen roll and rinse them (this is to make sure there arnt any mould spores on the seeds) then feed it to your birds. I think finches also enjoy this sort of fresh food (though don't quote me on that) anyone in the know is welcome to enlighten me.
If your birds arnt too game to try new foods you can cut up the fruits and sprinkle seeds on top. The seeds stick to the juices and your birds will get the flavour of it. Usually a bit of healthy competition over the food will encorage your birds to try new food sources (I have an aviary full of budgies and tiels, nothing survives in there longer than a few hours). Any uneaten fresh food must be removed by the end of the day.
Good luck :)

Lettuce does not have much nutrition. Anything just about except avocado, caffeine, alcohol , rhubarb mushrooms. People food is good if they see you eating it. Not too much salt, sugar, fat and milk.
Pasta if they don't like rice. If you bird has not been offered rice he may think you are trying to poison him. Let him see you eating it. Lots of recipes exist on the net for parrot biscuts and breads.
My birds like fruits mostly red apple, grapes, mulberry, peanuts, unsalted popcorn, carrots, chillies, veggies, meal worms, cooked chicken and bones. Peanut butter with or without bits of bread, bread is not really good for birds but a crust does not harm. Bits of cheese is a real treat only in very small quantity because a bird is lactose intolerant. Seeds are also a treat as too much seed is not good for a bird.
Other items are carrots, squash, green beans, red or green peppers are good vegetables to feed, with the best nutritive values. Parsley should be stayed away from, as in high amounts may be toxic to the birds.
Make sure that chicken, pork, beef or fish fed to the bird is cooked well as to kill any pathogens in the meat. Kidney, pinto, lima, mung beans and chick peas are good legumes to feed. Chicken thighbones are often relished by birds that love to eat the marrow inside
Small birds like budgies enjoy dandelion and grass. Bigger birds enjoy branches with leaves to strip and destroy.
Budgies can and do eat small grind of parrot cooking mix which is mielie, mung beans, china peas and a few other sorts of legumes. Standard parrot mix is too big for a budgie, but they enjoy a fine grind. I mix 3 parts mix, 1 part crushed pellets, a little less than 1 part seed. My budgies like grated fresh carrtots and apples or finely chopped spinach best. There is always a big rush in the morning to see what is served. I make wreaths from eucaluptus thin branches to be destroyed (a circle swing type ).

Most birds love red pepper. My African Grey loves watermelon and kiwi. Birds love sprouts also, try some alfalfa sprouts or bean sprouts. Green beans, carrots, just about any veggie. If it's a parrot, don't feed it asparagus, avocado or olives. Mix a little rice in with something you know the bird likes, it'll take on the flavor and the bird will chomp away happily.

Try Spinich, but you have to chop it up real good. Also fresh picked grass(rinse with water). They Love Spinich. Banana's too. I never feed my birds rice. It is not a good thing to feed them. Never, as rice likes to swell up. I think it would be dangerous to feed them rice. They are particular. The grain that I feed to them, has lots of dust on the kernals and seeds. Put about 3/4 of a cup of selected grain into a small bowl then cover with water. Slosh it around to rinse the dust off of the grain. Drain well and then wash again. The birds LOVE wet clean, grain. I wash the grain, seeds and they will eat it like crazy. I would feed them every morning with washed grain.

They will eat pretty much any fruit EXCEPT avocados. NEVER FEED YOUR BIRD AN AVOCADO! Also, add a splash of Apple Cider Vinegar on top of their food, it keeps up their immune system. Most birds LOVE millet spray and nuts. My lovebird munch on millets all day. I'd suggest taking out a couple of fruits and vegetables and seeing which ones your birds enjoy to eat. Have your bird be the judge! The yahoo! group, FeedingFeathers, has lots of information about this.

My parakeets love toast plain. They love other stuff too like:Apple, tamato, salontro, carrots, corn, peas, green beans, cooked chicken egg, apple, pear, cantaloupe, leafy greens, whole wheat bread, and corn bread. They also like plucking the fresh buds off of fresh broccoli (cooked or uncooked).
If your parakeet has not been raised on fruits and vegetables, he may be stubborn about changing his diet. Add something new each day and be patient.
Good Luck!

Whole grain breads or cornbread are good for them. Hard boiled egg is good for them. (Yes, I know that seems weird!) Dark greens, like kale or brocolli are good, as are sweet potato. Try getting some frozen mixed vegies, let them thaw and give them that. You can try soaking and sprouting seed. That will give them extra vitamins. Dandelion greens are very good, but be VERY careful if you pick them in your yard that they have not been sprayed with any pesticides or other chemicals.
Birds are just like people, they have definite likes and dislikes. Just keep trying things and you will find something they like.

What kind of birds do you have? You can probably Google the breed and find tons of information about healthy snacks. My mom has an umbrella cockatoo who loves cucumbers, papaya, and mango. She also loves bagels with everything on them (all the seeds and nuts).
