hwo to honor and obey a man. She is 7 years old and I have her doing the laundry and housecleaning and a little cooking. I thought I would start her on the yardwork this summer. Am also thinking about making her call me sir. Yes Sir. No Sir.

You're not serious. You're just trying to get people upset. Nice, real nice.

I think this may be a wind-up.
I take it their is no woman in your life or is she busy sweeping the chimney or clipping your toenails?
From a UK perspective I think the 'American' model of teaching ther kids manners and morals as soon as they can walk and talk is admirable, something we in the UK should adpot as I am sure if more kids were taught respect for their elders we as a nation would have a lot less of the unsociable behaviour associated with gangs of youths hanging out on the street because their parents could not give a damn where they are at night.
The notion of your daughter calling you 'sir' or any child addressing his/her father as such is quite sweet and charming and should be the most natural thing in the world but only if the respect is earned and not demanded. However I feel this is something that should have been put in place some time ago.
As a 'working class' man from the UK I never called my late father 'sir' as I did not feel a great deal of respect for him I am sad to say. However the word does not fall easily from my lips because it was not part of our 'culture'. If it had been ingrained from the word go it would be instinctive.
As regards your daughter she should be given some chores but not at the expense of her childhood and your relationship.
The biggest mistake my wife and I did was to allow our two boys to enjoy their childhhood while we did all the work and now at the ages of 13 and 16 we can just about get them to tidy their bedrooms once a week and that is with close supervision.
I would not expect my boys to call me 'sir' but a little more than 'yeah' and 'what' is expected and demanded.

Be an honorable man!
Building on responsibilities at that age can only build resentment.
Teach her the difference between obeying you and "obeying a man" or you won't have her around long enough to worry about yardwork this summer. She 'll have said yes to the wrong man and end up as a missing kid or worse!
Get a clue.
The Bible says a man is to love his wife as Christ loves the Church. How do you think Christ loves your daughter?

Good for you, you'll be able to gage what she is capable of doing. You will be suprised what a 7 year old can do. I was 5 when I changed my brother's diapers and I was 9 when I was cooking dinner and cleaning and doing laundry. Now I can run a household with kids and my husband is so proud of me and he has peace of mind when he is at work.

I just think you sound a little chauvenistic. Don't raise her to be submissive to men, you are her parent, you should want her to grow up to be strong and independent yet capable and competent at the same time. What's good for you is not necessarily good for her. Put yourself in her shoes and maybe you can start to understand why you sound a chauvenistic.

First of all the most important thing you should do is teach your child to honor herself. Life is not about obeying men anymore.
Sir, you are way off base if you are raising your child that way. She will learn to be submissive and men will use and hurt her.
Teach her to be a strong willed child who shows respect to all people but, herself first and then instead of finding someone to obey...........she will find a loving repationship with a man who cherishes her and gives her a happy life not obeying but communicatiing and compromising to make their lives the best possible.

It is wonderful that you are teaching you daughter responsibility and to obey but you also have to be careful ...let her know that she can talk to you about anything and dont be to strict or she will drift away when she gets older...she will rebel...also calling you sir is a little to harsh...teach to call her teachers and elders sir but let her call you daddy while she is young some day you will miss it when she is older and just calls you dad or sir

Dude, i mean sir, shes 7!!! Im a guy and i didnt start doing yard work till i was 9. She definitly needs to respect you, but you need to respect her too. And i agree with making kids do chores too. But with all that, by the time shes 14 she start doing drugs and she'll end up getting knowed up by some druggy 18 year old douche bag. Do you want that to happen?Do you want her to have low self esteem, other girls will treat her like ****, men will treat her like she is just a vagina that does house work.

I feel sorry for your daughter--you are the reason why women have been oppressed for so long. You are a frightened, ignorant, lazy, poor excuse for a man. What you are doing to your daughter classifies as mental abuse and I could only hope and pray that she is removed from that environment as soon as possible, so that with the proper education, love and support she can flourish and do for herself as she wishes--all without having to call a man Sir.

no way. do it yourself. this is the 21st century. women have been honoring and serving men for too long. shes 7 yrs old. get yourself a girl and let her just be a kid that has fun playing, learning, and reading with her dad. dont make her into a slave. it isnt bad to learn how to cook, but make it fun and cook and cean with her. make the tasks fun and maybe nto games. be a dad and let her be the kid.

I think you need to be working on respect. Respecting your daughter so she will respect you. Yes, she probably is ready for a chore or 2, but doing all the adult work... I dont think so. I bet your spouse has to ask permission to leave the room. I think your headed down a road of one heck of a teenage rebellion

First of all I was taught to say yes sir no sir and yes maam no maam to all my elders. But as far as the rest of that mess goes you had better be joking.
