It doesn't really matter the time. I wake up to her licking my face and arms. I'm glad that she is so affectionate, but I need sleep! It has nothing to do with hunger, I leave a bowl of food out for her, she just won't go over to it until I'm awake. What do I do?

I can't put her somewhere else. I have 3 dogs and they haven't gotten used to her yet.

Aside from shutting her out of the room, i think there is little else you can do to stop her. I have a 4 yr old tom cat and he's been waking me up for as long as i can remember. When I don't want to be bothered, i hide under the covers till he takes the hint and settles in. He likes to bury his head and front paws in my hair and knead my scalp. It can be somewhat relaxing!lol

That why the expression "cat nap" came into being. Cats sleep a lot and do not sleep for seven or eight hours straight as humans do. Especially with a kitten. They are like young children, they play hard and then sleep hard. The kitten won't really be on the same sleep cycle as you until she is a year or more in age.

Great introduction to motherhood if that might be in your future.

Hi there...to help your kitten it's very helpful to play with her for 10-15 minutes right before bedtime with an activity such as chasing a feather toy. The key is to get her to exercise a lot so it tires her out. Think of kittens like young human children...kids have boundless/endless energy and love to run and get into all kinds of things as so with young cats. Therefore, we need to help them understand with time and training what is acceptable.

If it also becomes too much when it's bedtime giving her own place to sleep in another room where the dogs cannot go (e.g. bathroom) may help you get some soundful rest until she is a little older.

Cats are nocturnal by nature so that is when they get their most energy and want to play, this is why she's waking you up. Try playing with her for awhile before going to bed so she's good and worn out. The best thing to do if you can't sleep with her somewhere else, is to get a cat carrier and keep her in that during the night. If possible, put her in the bathroom with the light on for a few nights and keep the house darker during the day. This "could" in theory reset her internal clock. I did this with both of my cats and both now sleep mostly during the night.

shut your bedroom door with her on the other side!

or keep a spray bottle by the bed and spritz her when she wakes you.

either seems so cruel when she's just being affectionate, but you gotta do what you gotta do!
