the government will fund alcoholics and drug addicts when they're coming off whatever their habit is, so does that mean that if I go to my doctor and tell him I'm addicted to chips he will prescribe me chips for the rest of my life? I think he should.

There's a flaw in your argument.

You say the government funds addicts as they're coming off their habit.

But you say you think you should have chips prescribed for the rest of your life.

Given the opening lines of your argument, doctors could only prescribe chips whilst you're coming off your addiction... they couldn't give you chips to sustain it.

God, I've just bored myself to death...
