I am over 60 and my eyebrows are fading and getting thin as well and I wondered if tattooing is the answer. Would it be very sore and would there be a good choice of colour?

You can get permanent makeup done, I think this can include getting your eyebrows tattooed. They also do getting eyeliner tattooed on and eyelashes tinted and stuff. Look it up in the yellow pages, you should find something under beauty salons. They will probably be very experienced in helping people in your situation. They may suggest something else that might be more suitable

I had a good chuckle at the person who thought you were spelling colour wrong. Oh, those Americans!

It may work for a few years, but the older you get, the more your skin starts to droop, pulling the tattoo out of shape. And what's going to happen when you get older and your hair is grey but your eyebrows are a permanently different colour? Look into having them professionally waxed at a salon instead. It's cheaper than a tattoo, easier to maintain, and you won't have to pluck as often. Don't do anything drastic. Not to mention the face is an EXTREMELY PAINFUL place to get tattooed -- any place where the skin isn't padded by muscle, like the hands, feet, or face, is very painful because they're essentially working on bone beneath. I've sat with several friends who have had various things done to those areas, and the pain is a lot worse than a regular tattoo. I'm not saying this to scare you away, but you should be aware of your options before you make a decision.

It's an excellent idea. I've had my semi permanent make up applied and I love it. I will be truthful it was quite painful but it only took 3/4 hour and the results certainly outweigh a short burst of pain. Make sure you go to some one reputable with plenty of experience. I don't know where you live but I had mine done at the Prestige Clinic in Wakefield (01924) 387040 by a wonderful lady called Suzanne. She's very skilled and will only start the tattooing process until your 100% certain of the contour and colour. A good thing is too you can start with a very faint line and if you are happy with the results then you can have them darker.

I do hope if you have it done you'll be as happy as I am with the result. Good Luck.

My stepmother had her eyebrows tattooed on. They do not look fake at all, except for one thing. You have to do a series of these tattoo sessions and she didn't follow up on hers, the result, orange eyebrows. She covers the orange up with eyebrow pencils. So if you do decide you want this, make sure you can stand to have it done more than once. And also, do not go to any tattoo parlor, there are special machines that do this kind of work and most tattoo parlors do not have these. So research it carefully and find someone who specializes in this kind of cosmetic tattooing. :)

Hi,
I am a beauty therapist. It is not tattooing but semi permanent make-up that you should be considering, this is a great idea for fading and thinning eyebrow and if you go to a reputable salon that provides semi permanent make up you will be very pleased as the results are natural, they will discuss colour and they last between 2/3 yrs so it's well worth it.Good luck.

I knew a woman (age 65 then) who had tattooed eyebrows and they looked kind of fake, but she had no real eyebrows to soften them. I understand tattoos are sore for a while, and there's the (low) possibility of infection.

My best friend made the mistake of doing this when we were high school. She shaved off her natural brows and had brows tattooed on--at first they were a dark brown/reddish color and looked good, but after awhile it started to fade away and now it is a slight green color. She has to draw over them with an eyebrow pencil.

I wouldn't suggest anyone doing this unless you are willing to committ yourself to frustration. You are better off just filling them in with an eyebrow pencil and if you make a mistake it wipes right off.

No! It's very sore & it looks really fake. Tattoos fade. I would try some good eyebrow filler (check on QVC.com), there's so many good & fool proof ways to fill in your brows rather than tattoo them.

i dont think that that is a bad idea. if you dont want to draw on eyebrows then get them tattood. u wont ever be able to change them again though. but yes for people with cancer and such there are lots of good tattoo artists that can do a great job. gud luck!
