Possibly. Bipolar is believed to have a genetic basis, but is often triggered by environment. So unstable relationships, stress caused by the reactions of others to your sexuality or other causes may be involved in triggering the onset of bipolar disorder, but it certainly isn't the 'cause' as such.

No, bipolar disorder is a biological illness that tends to run in families. Gay people, particularly teens with no social support, may be more vulnerable to depression. It's usually more of a reactive depression. If a gay person has a genetic predisposition (such as a family history) to bipolar disorder, stressors like rejection by family, extreme loneliness, no social support, harassment from peers, etc. can trigger or worsen episodes.

NOT AT ALL. Bipolar disorder is caused by and unbalance in brain neurotrasmiters (that is the biological explanation) on the other hand the "spiritual explanation" is that the person has a spirit attached to his aura. That is why sometimes he´s really happy and sometimes really sad. This means that when the person rules he is happy and when the spirit rules he is sad

Definetily not. I'm bipolar and have been for over 10 years and I know alot about bipolar. Being gay is who you are, it's not your fault. Bipolar disorder is an imbalance in the brain. It has nothing to do with your sexuality. Hope your coping ok with your bipolar. Good luck.

A Summarized Answer b/w 3 friends: If u want to look at it biologically and neurologically i don't believe so, but if u want to think about the influence it has due to society and the way it looks at you for being gay then u may be causing it yourself but being gay in itselft doesn't cause it. Just Society. No. MOST DEFINITELY NOT. don't get confused. being gay has nothing to do with it.

I don't know if anybody has crunched the numbers, but even if you find a correlation between homosexuality and bipolar, you still wouldn't know if one contributed to the other, or even if there was a third factor that contributed to both.
