We have just gone fall/winter clothes shopping for the last 2 weeks for my toddler. She was a 2T before the summer and by the end, all of it was snug and short on her! We go shopping again for the cold months and find that the 3T is huge and the 2T that was once small is now a little big. Anyone else noticed this? Is there a reason? My hubby thinks it might be because toddlers now adays are bigger in size (hence the adjustable waistband for 2T that they did not have in the spring). Just wondering if I'm the only one out there!

Typically we buy the same brand because we know how it fits. For example, she has 2T jeans from Children's Place. Fit big when we first bought, but now are short and tight to fasten. Headed back because we love their jeans and took a look at 3T. found the adjustable waist, tightened, was still too big so decided to give the 2T a try and they were also big on her even though the 2T we already owned are tight!! Same goes for Target's Circo/ Cherokee brand and Old Navy clothes!

pants w/ adjustable waistbands are typically bigger in the waist to accomodate heavier children. When tightened though, they should fit.

Have you checked your daughter's weight lately? Perhaps she's actually losing weight.

I have noticed a far larger variation in sizes once my son hit 2T. I haven't noticed them getting smaller, though. One bizarre thing is that the 3T stuff tends to be not a lot bigger in the waist than a 2T but WAY longer. I have a 2 year old in the 95% percentile for height and I have to roll his 3T pants twice.

It could be that after washing the clothes so often that they shrink or maybe your daughter is going through a growth spurt and thinning out and it could be the makers of the clothes sometimes 1 brand is truer to a sizer than another bran. Have you ever gone into the store and tried on something and got the same size in a different brand and it didn't fit right I know I have.

Check the brands - they vary a lot on sizes!! Not every 2T is the same for example. I can buy a size 4 in one store, go to another and buy a size 4 and it can be used next year. Go Figure!! Should be standard sizing.

i noticed that only in boy toddler clothing.cause my daughters in a 4t or a girls size 4 and they fit her purfect in the waist but a few weeks ago we bought her blk halloween sweat pants in boys cause they didnt have blk in girls and she wore it for the first time yesterday and damn that thing was huge on her.the waist was the size of a 5t or 5 in girls(compaired it to a skort i bought on sale for next yr that was a 5)in it was the same size as the 4t sweats and the length was the same as a size 5 pants i got from my cousins granddaughter that out grew it.but the shirts and pants in toddler girls and reg girls r still the same as the hand me down clothing i got from my cousin that her grandaughter wore 3 yrs ago.my daughter is pretty small in the waist too but she has long legs for a 3 and a half yr old.(39lbs and 39inches btw).I also got a great niece who is 3 months younger than my daughter and shes already in a 5t cause 4t's r too small for her and shes only 5 more pounds heaver than my daughter but she is shorter tho.so it all depends on the clothes i think.just like mens pants some r made bigger than others.but i do think that the shoes r the ones thats messed up.now days all u can find in kids shoes is wide wieths its hard to find a normal size shoe.so i really dont know hun.i guess try shopping around and try stuff on her and see the difference on the sizes of the size of something to different type of stores

Yes I have noticed this as well, but then again by all standards toddlers are larger these days. I have a 4 year old niece who is wearing a size one because she is tall and hasn't worn anything with a "T" in it for more than a year. I do not constantly shop for children other than for birthdays, holidays were gifts are given, etc., because my children are all grown, but when I do have the pleasure to go into a "little" person's shop, the clothes are larger than I remember them years ago.

It seems like my daughter has been a size 2T forever now. 18-24 mos were too small and 2T too big. Now the length of 2T fits but is still big everywhere else.

Could it be because things shrunk in the wash. But also our 2 year old has been in 2T for over a year, he's running and playing a lot more now too, so wouldnt be suprised if he lost some babyfat.

I think everything is getting bigger in this country. We have the highest rate of obesity and at restaurants, the serving size is enough for 4 people so it is no wonder that clothing has to be bigger. In Europe, size 5 is like our size 0 for ladies.

i've got got here upon enormous W the main suitable for infants, next maximum suitable for much less then Kmart while they have their mark-down racks. To me there is not any factor paying enormous money for high quality as they improve out of issues so speedy in any case. would possibly never bypass to purpose because of the fact of their costs, they're no the place close to the main inexpensive.
