Playing squash and tennis will have little effect your piano playing until you get older . . . unless you get hurt. I would imagine there is a greater risk of injury when playing squash than when playing tennis. You have to determine the relative importance of each activity for you.

I worked as a professional pianist for several years and always had to be careful what I did with my hands. Working with tools like screwdrivers and wrenches, for example, could cause fatigue and cramping. On days where I had to perform I would avoid things like playing tennis or working with my hands too much.

I have learned that careful stretching of the hands frequently throughout the day, especially taking the wrists through their full range of motion, is very important. You want to avoid repetitive strain injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome.

Have someone massage your hands, if you have a boyfriend or girlfriend, for example. I don't avoid activities such as squash any more, since I learned to properly stretch my wrists and relax my hands.

what's squash? i play piano and the violin, and i'm going to play tennis in PE. my left pinky got smashed by a football in PE 2 years ago, and it made it completely unusabe especially when i play those high notes. but it did heal. i hate playing anything over an octave. my pinky wont stay straight anymore. it's pointed to the side when i try to make my fingers straight, because my hands are small, also why i couldn't play the cello. it's also made me start to write wierd....and i'm trailing off the subject.......

I don't think there would be a problem. You'd only be in trouble if you broke your hand or your wrist while playing.
