The legal way, either get someone to hire you (which is very difficult) or get a family member or potential spouse who is already living here to sponsor you.
The illegal way, overstay your vacation visa, and stand on the corner with the Mexicans and haul around rocks for a living.

It should be extremely easy for fellow English speakers to live and work in the US, but it's not.

If you work in the tech industry or are a student it is fairly easy to come to the US. You can also use the school route as a back door.

If you are in the tech industry, there are a number of agencies that will help you get an H1-B visa, which will allow you to work in the US for six years; this will allow your company to process your Green Card.

If you are not in the tech industry, if may be hard to get companies to fly you to the US for an interview, hire you, and sponsor your H1.

If you are a student or don't mind living like one for a year or so, you can apply to a US University or College and get a student visa. Once you are here in the US, it will be much easier for you to find a company to hire you and sponsor your visa. Having a student visa also allows you to work some jobs, so you would be able to earn money for living expenses. Most Universities and Colleges actually have numerous companies come to campus to recruit students and many of these corporations have no problem hiring students that require visas. Though, it may take you awhile to find the right match.

Good Luck!

You can, but you need to be sponsored for a Green Card. Other alternatives are to buy a business valued over $1 million or that employs at least 10 people. It is very difficult to work there legally - your employer needs to prove that no one else can do the job, or that you have specialist knowledge of use to the company. The only other option is if your spouse or a parent have US citizenship.

Why don't you go to school here (student visa) and try out the US first. You might be able to get a student job and learn about our culture.

For example, you will get angry when you find out about our culture: how illegal Mexican aliens jump our border by the millions, and how easy it is for them to get in here versus YOU, who will have a difficicult time filling out papers, having cash on hand, buying a plane ticket, and all that!
