Bacon is a salted & preserved meat so no (think salamis hanging in a deli). Especially if you've cooked it before it goes into the muffin mixture. I wouldn't refridgerate the muffins. Against popular belief, refridgeration actually toughens bread products (don't keep your bread there!) They freeze much better & defrost to come out just as good as they went in. If your window of time is short enough ( less than 24 hrs.) I would just cover them well & leave them out (where the cat can't find 'em!). Have fun!!

Since it is a meat (most likely pork), but even if you made turkey bacon, you have to refrigerate it.
Food poisoning is dangerous, not to mention really uncomfortable (I got it from eating some bad canned pineapple).
When in doubt, do what your initial gut feeling is. Better to be safe than sorry.

So, you fried the bacon? How warm and humid is it in your house? Warmth and humidity will speed the spoilage but, fried (cooked) bacon should be fine if left out overnight -- best if you cover it or put it in a sealed container. And, better if you do not live in the tropics (heat and humidity factors). The muffins sound delicious! (I believe that everything is better with bacon!)

Assuming you cooked the bacon first, You should be good until tomorrow night but I wouldn't let it get much past 24 hours before refrig'ing it.

if the bacon is crispy then it should be ok for about 3 hrs without refridgeration if it is not then it will still be alright because the bacon being inside the muffin.......
i promise you they won't spoil the conditions (acidity level, moisture level, etc) are not right.

I would put it in an air tight container and you could leave it out for a few hours. If it is going to be longer than a day, I would put it in tupperware or something along those lines and put it in the fridge

first of all, i might decide to state that i'm jealous of your left arm. Secondly, boil some cinnamon sticks (in water interior a pot). The cinnamon ought to cancel the Sir Francis Bacon scent. once you "awaken" with all and sundry else to the linger heady scent, state that somebody broke in and baked in the process the night.
