pHi Mudcat, this was the spiritual leader of the group known as the Essenes, who were jewish separatists,and led a lifestyle of austerity.they thought that the Pharisee`s were corrupting the law and deceded to live apart from them and Jerusalem.
many over the centuries have likened him to Jesus but this is fanciful speculation.
