Cardio, Cardio, Cardio. Run, Swim, Bike, Treadmill, any and all forms of Cardio will guarentee you the success in burning off your gut. For 21 yrs, a 34 or 36 waist is just fine. Be very patient with yourself, it doesn't happen overnite.

Try not to eat too much sugar, or drink too much caffine. They both make one crave carbs, and too many carbs puts more weight on, and it goes right to the gut for a guy!!

Hope this helps a little.

The above answers are all right, spot reducing doesn't work. And diets don't work either; they can decrease your metabolism, causing your body to conserve fat. What you really need is some long, slow aerobic exercise. Go for at least 12-15 minutes or more per day of walking, jogging, running, cycling, or some other kind of exercise such as these, and don't stop doing this once you get rid of the weight you want to get rid of. Another thing to keep in mind is that weight really isn’t the problem; fat is the problem. Weight and fat are NOT the same thing. Muscle actually weighs almost 7 times as much as fat. So don’t pay too much attention to your weight; instead pay attention to how thin you look and how good you feel.

Many abdominal exercises will just build muscle under the layer of stomach fat, thus not giving you the results you want. Try a good cardio routine, or take up activities that burn fat fast, like running or swimming. If you have a local fitness center or gym nearby, consider getting a membership there. Not only will it help you get rid of your stomach fat, but also help you buff up in other areas too.

Sit ups alone won't help. Cut back on the trans fat in your diet...that can cause fat on the belly. Also, try to cut back on the beer (I know its hard!)...beer can cause bloating and belly fat gain. The best exercises to flatten your belly are ones that work your whole core. I know you probably think that yoga and pilates are a little sissy, but they will give you a killer body. Look up the "plank" and other poses on yoga sites -- try them...you'll see how challenging they are. For aerobic exercise, try kickboxing, which really challenges all the muscles in your back and stomach. Or try biking...because of the position you have to sit in on a bike, it can really help flatten you out.
