i just met this guy and he is kind of shy so i usually have 2 ask questions or talk about stuff what are some good questions i could ask him?

If the guy is really shy, it might be overwhelming for him to answer a lot of questions, plus he might just answer the question and not take the hint that he should elaborate to make a conversation.
I would first start with the usual niceties and just being friendly. Then to have a conversation, maybe ask him one or two questions, but then do the work for him and relate it back to yourself. This might feel weird, but what you're doing is sharing information about yourself and allowing him to be with you without a lot of pressure. He should soon feel a lot more comfortable and see that you don't expect him to have all the answers or be a great conversationalist. So, say you ask him what local bands he likes, and he says soandso, then you say yeah, I like their music, I saw another band blahblah last month, the concert was amazing, it had.... And then tell him about it.
This approach requires you to be outgoing, but it really helps the guy be comfortable around you. However, after a couple of times of doing this, if he still doesn't make an effort to join in and ask his own questions, then you probably should give up. He isn't motivated enough to relate or he just might not care. But, if he's just shy he should warm up without trouble. Good luck!

one of the best ways i found to talk to someone shy is to start off with questions and topics of how you originally met that person. did you guys share a same class? ask questions abt how he/she felt abt that class. talk abt things you both were involved in or did together. if there is nothing, ask him what hes interested in doing. be like, i dont know what to do this wkend, got some suggestions? take what he says and use it in ur favor into a convo. make him comfortable around you and he'll open up

ask him about the things he likes his interest and hobbies he will open up to you if he likes you and he See's you are truly interested in him find out about the music he likes the sports his favourite team if he would want to see anything in the world what would it be and before to long you wont have any problem talking with him at all if you do its because he is deeply bothered by something that has built a wall between him and the outside world but i think he will open up to you also tell him about you to find out what you all have in common.

his favorite food
His favorite sports teams are.
how he feels about true love all sorts of stuff.

How about stuff like what he likes to do?
What kinds of movies, or music does he like? What are his hobbies, places he likes to go, or would like to travel to?
Things like that.

ask him what he likes & dislikes; what he likes to do on his free time/hobbies/etc. his favorites,..... (get to know him.)
