i've been with my boyfriend for just over a year and a half now and although that may not seem long to many people its my longest relationship. I really love him and i thought he loved me too until recently. He told me he doesnt love me and just told me he did to keep me happy. He still wants to be with me and says he may love me but has never loved before so doesnt know what it is. Am i wasting my time? I know he cares for me but hes sending me mixed message, im confused and dont know what to do.

No. If you stay with a person who does not love you long enough, you will learn not to love yourself. Stay longer than that and you will come to believe that you do not deserve love. You must love yourself, and you deserve to be loved by others. Leave now and don't look back.

ok look at it this way....you wanna get married one day right? and the person you'd like to marry you would hope loves you...right? well you just wasted a year and a half of searching for the man you are going to marry with this guy who has made himself clear...the excuse "i don't know what love is" if he doesn't know then why would he tell you he never loved you...he knows...he knows he isn't in love with you, yes he may care and naturally it's easy to develop emotional feelings after being friends, yes cause that is all you were to him a friend...a spot to keep him warm just to say he has a girl...honey if you really think about it you already know you shouldn't stay, but when you convince yourself you wasted time then you'll quickly move on...my advice don't pine over him and under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES crawl back to him you'll only hurt yourself worse...cause love is something that if it is real doesn't need to grow to feel it it's already there what has to grow is the cooperation the fondness the understanding of one another love is one of the first things people get when in a relationship it isn't hard and when it's there you will know it. there are people who are here for only a little bit to teach you something for that relationship with the one and then there is THE ONE...learn something from this and then move on there will be plenty out there like him. good luck I really wish you the best

A year and a half is a long time. When he says that he may love you but isn't sure that he knows what love is he may be telling the truth. What kind of relationship did his parents have? He may not have a positive image of a loving relationship where love is given and received. Some people grow up to repeat what they grew up watching. If you think it is worth it go to relationship counselling. But is he is not willing to find out what is going on, cut your losses and find someone who has no problem showering you with love.

You deserve to be loved back, plain and simple.
A year and a half is small in the grand scheme of things, but is longer than most marriages these days. You don't want to find yourself 5 years down the road ready for marriage or wanting children with a man who doesn't love you back.
There is someone else who is worthy of your love.

leave him if he loves you he will come back. yes it will hurt at first but why waste your time with someone who might love you 1 day. dont take him back right away give it time. you can love anyone ( family, friends etc.) YOU will know when you are IN LOVE with some one. after a year and a half he should know to. get on with your life

Golly girl, if he doesn't love you by now then he probably won't. You need to leave. Maybe he is keeping you around for the booty or the money or anything extra you do around the house. He sounds like he is using you. I am sure that there is someone out there who you will fall in love with and will love you back with all they are. Don't settle. I did and regret it everyday.
