Cashews do not grow in the USA. They need really warm temperate climates and are native to Brazil. There is a fruit then the cashew nut/seed hangs off the bottom of the fruit.

I have read Vietnam is now growing a lot of cashews.

As far as I know they don't grow in the USA. They are a tropical fruit/nut.

I know they grow in the Philippines, I have seen them and eaten them. They have a delecious red fruit at the end that you can eat and the nut is above it.

there is a greenhouse here in Lincoln ,NE where they are grown unnatually for study purposes, i think this type of nut requires sup-tropical, semi arid climates to grow natually. so florida, southern california. those are guesses
