Pollock had a great publicist..his paintings look like an alcoholic painted them..oh wait ..he was an alcoholic...excuse me ..

Jackson knew how to get his groove on alright. He got raving drunk and then threw the paint around. You can, of course, see the angst in the paintings when he was really in a bad way or when, for the rarest of times he was happy. It is really an expression of a tortured soul.

I used to think that as well and I did not understand him at all. Now I feel that his work was primarily focused on the process. I don't think he cared much what his paintings looked like when they were finished. I think his way of creating was through process, which is great, but I feel there needs to be some form of concept that is universal.
