I feel I am very intensely spiritual, I have a firm belief in something unseen, I'll say "God", but not necessarly the same "God" christians believe in. I have searched for years to find the right church, but have given up and when I made my peace with "God" about this, I felt a weight had been lifted off my shoulders instantly. I realized I was searching for something because I let society make me feel guilty for not going to church and not having a religion. I have not believed in many things since I was a child, but would never dare express myself. I have "church hopped" with 5 different religions and none of them taught what I felt. Since I got the courage to express my beliefs out loud, about a year ago, I have been happier and I feel healthier and my relationship with "God" has gotten stronger than ever. My search ended when I realized all I had to do was look inside myself and that is where I find peace and faith. I'm not trying to ruffles any feathers... just curious...

Spiritual. By the way, the difference between religion and spirituality is two fold:
1. Religion was devised by man, spirituality is a gift from God (or your higher power).
2. Religion is for people who are afraid of going to hell, and spirituality is for people who have been there!

Wow...I feel the exact same way. Never before have my feelings and opinions about my beliefs been expressed by another person so precisely.

I consider myself more spiritual and not so religious at all. I was raised Catholic and never really believed. I went to Baptist church and despised it. I studied Wicca and found it very interesting but didn't truly believe the teachings. I found that it looked like although I found many religions interesting, none of them rang true for me. Then I thought to myself - why do I feel the need to be categorized into an organized religion to express my faith?

So what I do believe is that their is some sort of higher being or spiritual force but I do not in any way, shape, or form, believe in the Christian God. I do not think that 'God' is an omnipotent being with human emotions. I think of 'God' as more of a spiritual force that connects and perhaps guides us all. Although I also believe that the human mind is incapable of knowing or comprehending the idea of what 'God' truly is. I believe in souls but I do not believe in heaven or hell.

I am much happier and more confident as well now that I know what I do believe instead of simply knowing what I don't believe.

Spirituality is fostered by religiousity I think.

It's within religion which teaches us about God that we are able to help our soul's spirituality. Otherwise we might just *create* things about what we believe to be God or of God, not knowing if it really is or not.

If it were not for religions encouraging us to worship or pray at least once a week then when would we honestly find the time to set aside to do this? I would like to consider myself spiritual but have need of religion to aid me. Good, thought question. ^_^ God bless.

I am definitely more spiritual than religious as well. I agree with you 100% about looking inside the self to find peace and faith. That's where I finally found the God of my understanding, too.

I believe your kinda on the rite track. I enjoy the church i go to but i don't go to be one of the pack like I'm sure a lot of people do i go to hear his word. and the preacher i see does a very good job at doing that. The word says that a church is where a group of people 2 or more gather in his name{Jesus Christ} to seek his word. it also says that the church is not the building but the people inside and what is inside the people. Do you do gods work? We are the body of Christ! How we do things everyday determines our walk with him. OH spiritual God bless

Definitely spiritual. I don't really believe in religion anymore. With all of the religions out there, who really knows what is right and what is wrong. SO... I prefer to look at myself as a child of god, and build my own personal relationship. People know right from wrong and can have good morals with out having to belong to a certain religion.

I'm more spiritual than religious cuz i never go to church and i really don't talk about catholic stuff cuz i think it's boring. I'm gonna become a witch soon!!! Yay!!! Anyway I believe in a force or resence higher than us but one that doesn't smite people all the time and doesn't condemn people. But stranglely I don't actually wanna become a witch cuz of the religion but the whole fantasy of that lifestyle. I don't actually like the fact that it's a religion. I just like the lifestyle so i guess I'm spiritual and have a witchy lifestyle.

If there is a "true path" I think you are closer to finding it that many of (myself included).

Under your definition of spiritual, I'm more spiritual than religious, but I don't normally use the word spiritual due to the flaky connotations.

Peace and bonne voyage!

like most people more Spiritual than Religious as most times Religions have the message " Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls you are going to Heaven or Hell. the choice is up to you. Which will it be ? " and this is all many seem to get across week after week.
