the bible say in Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. the bible also says in 1Pe 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
in Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
in Mat 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Mat 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
from these verses we can see that all have sinned (those of accountable age) and that Satan is out there and as long as he is there the temptation to sin is there and many will fall to it. none can completely never sin again in thought, word, deed, we are not perfect only Jesus was perfect.
we try to live our life as sinless as possible.

The cause of all sin is that ages ago the consciousness of mankind gradually dropped from oneness with God to seperation from God - sometimes called the duality or human consciousness.
In the duality consciousness, human beings only recognize the shifting sands of relative good and evil and therefore continually make mistakes of the kind that people call "sin."
So in answer to your question, because we live in this veil of duality (seperation from God) mistakes of this nature are always possible.
However, if one raises their consciousness to that of oneness with God through walking a spiritual path (the process of spiritual growth where one is focussed on pulling the many beams out of their own eye) then it is possible to lead a relatively sin free life.
When in the consciousness of oneness, people are free to experiment with God's energy with no danger of making serious mistakes. Again, however, when in the duality consciousness mistakes will always be made because the reality of God and God's laws and Being cannot be discerned.

Not during this system of things, we are imperfect. That's what sin is...missing the mark of perfection, we were born imperfect. In the new system of things , all things will be reconciled to God and perfect.
