I am in this situation right now- We have both been married before---twice each---- and needless to say we are being very very cautious this time.
But if you have never been married before i would say that there are a variety of reasons, financial, extended family issues- All kinds of stuff, maybe you have seen other peoples marriages fail and somewhere deep inside you are afraid to take the leap. Don't stress..... in time it will all come together.

You do not always marry somebody you love. You stand to love more than one person but not them all are THE one for (if possible) a long (life?)time commitment .

Financial reasons. That's the only thing I can think of, if you're old enough and really loved each other. Perhaps afraid of commitment?
