When heavy or frequent drinkers suddenly decide to quit "cold turkey" they will experience some physical withdrawal symptoms -- which can range from the mildly annoying to severe and even life-threatening.
The severity of these withdrawal symptoms is usually dependent upon how "chemically dependent" the chronic drinker has become. Those who drink heavily on a daily basis of course have developed a high level of dependency, but even those who drink daily, but not heavily and those who drink heavily but not daily, can also be chemically dependent upon alcohol.

Yes and could last for a long while. I'll been in the emergency room while a young woman was brought in having seizures from quitting cold turkey after heavily drinking for many years.(she said she was 12 when she started) Mental depression can cause alcohol dependency which in turn leads to other medical conditions. See a doctor and get diazapam to help with the withdrawals.

As long as you let it control you. You should be done by the time the alcohol is out of your system....but some people continue to have panic attacks after that.
Alcohol withdrawal has much more serious side effetcs......like seizures. You need to be medically detoxed.

I have heard that it could be as long as 4 weeks. I would check with a doctor to get a prescription to ease the side effects. There could be a variety of withdrawal symptoms, depending on how long and how much you have been drinking. You also could go to a Health and Vitamin store and get some natural stuff.

An anxiety attack would come after a stressful situation whereby a panic attack is unpredictable and is not from a stressful situation. People often avoid places where they've had panic attacks before such as the store or school.

Alcohol withdrawal can throw a patient into delirium tremens. The main problem is dehydration. Several 1000cc IV's and tranquilizers such as Valium are indicated. 24-48 hours gets the worst over.
