The question only makes sense if you are forced to choose between them. Now suppose I am settled down with, say, a book of Yeats' verse. Good stuff, love it! There's a knock on my door and heigh ho! there stands Joanna Lumley who begs me to pleasure her peerless body. So, I look at my book on Yeats, and I look at the divine form of Joanna, and do you know what I do?........................................................................................................................................................................................................
I wake up, that's what I do. Dang!

Well, I would rather read the Raven by Edgar Allen Poe than have bad sex.

On the other hand, much poetry is hideously bad, and I would rather get my leg over John Prescott than read it again.

I suppose it's a matter of taste.

if poetry was better than sex we'd all have read it not had sex, and the human race would have expired years ago. As it is the numbers speak for themselves, and I reckon those who write it aint gettin it.

Physical pleasures are good...
Mental pleasures are better...
but poetry..........isnt that good (i have spent 10's of minutes on one of Shakespeares poems and received waves of emotion from it...but it didn't compare to good sex)
