Lizard Head ~
In my opinion, this would not be a good fight for Spinks. Evander was a complete horse at crusierweight and threw nonstop accurate punches. Spinks never really liked to get hit and he prided himself on not brawling. Mike's fight with Holmes was a perfect example of a good smaller guy beating a good big guy by not fighting the bigger guys fight. when pressured Spinks would fight, but he would rather box.
Evander was pure inspiration at Crusierweight, as soon as he got caught with a solid punch, he would come back with 4 or 5 punches of his own often times harder than the one he was caught with. Evanders chin was never suspect, he never got caught with a shot where he ended up staring blankly up at the lights. Evander had the much heavier hands of the two and this would make the biggest difference in this fight next to Evanders total punch out-put.
This would be a very competitive bout until Evander caught Spinks with the bigger shots. Knowing that he (Evander) hurt Spinks this would have Evander throw more hard accurate shots to Spinks head and body. The body shots that Evander threw to Spinks body during this fight would be enough to slow the agile Spinks down to where he had no choice but to fight and doing so would be stopped by Evander in the 8th round.
Thanks for the great match up Lizard head.

Holyfieds Prime was at Heavyweight, nevertheless he Campaigns at Cruserweight befor campaigning as Heavyweight.

Michael Spinks was undefeated as a Light Heavyweight.

For this Fight to Happen Holyfield must go down to 175 pounds which is quite Exhausting for him. A prime Michael Spinks will win a Close UD against an Exhasuted Holyfield.

But if their Fighting at Heavyweight, Ill pick Hoilyfield Tko 10 Spinks.

Good match-up. I think Evander's physical strength would have been the difference in this fight. He would've put pressure on Spinks and made him fight his type of fight much like Tyson did against Spinks. And even though Evander didn't have the one-punch ko power like Mike showed against Spinks, he would have eventually worn Spinks down with a sustained attack while Spinks would be trying to land the big right hand to keep Holyfield off him. Holyfield's good chin would've taken the "Spinks Jinx" right hand pretty good and after that it's all Evander. I just don't think Spinks had the physical strength or the legs to move enough to keep Evander at bay for long. I like Holyfield by 9th round tko. It would've been a good fight though.

When Holyfield was a Cruiserweight, he boxed much the same way he did when he got bigger. His endurance and chin have never been questioned. He threw combinations, moved, but, always had that warrior mentality. (see vs. Dwight Muhammad Qawi)
Spinks was a superb Light Heavy, utilizing a lot of angles, ring generalship, and the "Spinks Jinx" , an overhand right that snuck up on people.
His awkward style might give Holy some trouble early on. But, as the fight went on, I believe Holyfield's body shots, and physical endurance would be the difference, eventually catching Spinks. Holyfield, TKO round 11.

If we assume they fought at cruiserweight I would have to go with Evander. It would be a great fight. I think Evander just would be physically a little too strong for Spinks. Even though it was at heavyweight Tyson just walked through Spinks where Tyson couldn't chop down Evander. Spinks could throw everythhing at Evander and would not be able to stop him. I expect Evander could win by decison or lat round KO.

Lizardhead - What is up man! A well intentioned question and good match up, but technically Evander never fought at light heavy. His first fight he fought at 177 1/2 lbs. Two and a half pounds over the light heavy limit. If they fought at this weight in their prime Evander would have to kill himself to make the weight, and I still don't think he could do it. If they fought at say cruiser or heavy I believe one of the greatest light heavies ever would lose to the Holy man by a unanimous decision. Good question and I look forward to answering more of your questions and reading your answers! Peace.

Holy would take spinks apart a round at a time In his prime he never backed up like Joe Frazier in that respect..

Holyfield was the greatest cruiserweight champ of all time. He'd beat Spinks handily.
