I do believe that there is a shot, but it has to be given within 24 hours. I suggest your call your vet ASAP.

Vets do have an abort shot now, but didn't used to..You can also safely have her spayed within the first 3 weeks..
Note: I just called the vets in my area..to get the 'morning after' shot, I would have to go to the next, larger town, about 2 hours away..
the vets here don't like to give it as it can be dangerous.

There is a "morning after" shot that may prevent pregnancy in such cases. It should be given within 12 hrs, at least within 24 hrs, of the breeding. It is a type of estrogen and can have serious side effects. It will prolong the heat period and may cause a life threatening bone marrow suppression.

Within a certain time frame of her being bred, the vet can give a shot that will abort the pregnancy and start the heat cycle over again. You could opt to have her spayed and then it will no longer be a problem. Most vets will spay in an EARLY (2-4 week) pregnancy.

well the only way is to visit your veternarian and have him check if your dog is pregnant and i had a standard size schnauzer and they dont become pregnant easily. smaller breeds do have trouble when they are being bred. i wouldnt even think of giving my dog a pill or shot without knowing she was with pups and if you do give anything that does abort and she is not with pups it can cause health problems and can cause her to be infertile. i do suggest strongly that you do have a pregnancy test by your vet and if she is he can do what needs to be done. how did this large dog mate with your much smaller animal?if you saw it then go to the vet but its quite possible that the coupling didnt occur. if you didnt see them hung up then she couldnt be with pups.this large male would have to have major ideas how to mate with a much smaller female.i do recall a friend breeding a pony to a saddlebred horse which was 14 hands and the pony was 9 or 10.the pony was male and he had to be on a higher level to breed with the female who was taller than the male. i hope all works out for the best because if she is pregnant and you decide to let her go she would die during the birthing process. a cearsean would have to be done in order to save her life. i know you will abort for health issues and you would want to breed her with the same type of animal she is. best of luck

If you are so concerned you would not be wasting your time asking this question, you should never take an abortion of a pet in you own hands. You can not just give her a pill it does not work that way. Take her to the vet and let them know the other dogs breed and they can advise you. I swear some people just shouldn't own animals.

Well I did work at a vet clinic in CA for about 3yrs and to my knowledge the only way to abort the puppies is surgery. They will go in a and surgically remove the puppies; however, I don't know if they will spay her in the process. If this is something you desire, you should contact a vet that specializes in surgery. Yes - that does exists. Ask if they are Board Certified. Good Luck. GMM

If you are positive that it was the neighbors dog, then they may be responsible for any bills that you incur by going to get the pregnancy terminated. Your dog can also get spayed at this time, if you're interested.
There is no 24 hour pill to end pregnancy in dogs that I've ever heard of. Give your vet a call, get all the information from them, along with a complete estimate for the procedure, then present it to your neighbor.

You'll have to go to the vet and have the pregnancy terminated... There are no over-the-counter drugs for this.
If you can prove that your neighbor's dog was the culprit, you may be within your legal rights to have the neighbor reimburse you for the cost of the abortion.
Spaying your dog will also stop this from happening in the future.

If you want to insure the health and well being of your pet seek professional answers. Call your vet. He will be able to answer all your questions regarding aborting the pregnancy. Unfortunately you may get answers here that seem okay but may harm your dog.

You have to take her to the vet asap, they perform abortions on dogs all the time. Anything you try in your own would endanger her health. Also, speak to your neighbor, if this happened on your property, they are legally responsible for the medical costs.

You can't may pure breed Viszla got impregnated by a mutt from down the street I took her to the vet and they told me they would not abort because it's very dand=gerous to the mother. you have to wait till the pups are born then give them away. Tell the vet about your concerns over the size difference.
