What has a Christian done to them..nothing. A Christian is a good overall person. Christians who are in excellent faith with the Lord don't swear, lie, cheat, steal, rape, molest, murder, or sodomize. They live a clean moral life. And what is wrong with that? Are non-Christians just jealous of our cleanliness and very strong will? There is such thing as riding the fence and many so called Christians do just this. They are not Christian, they are non-Christian. You either follow the path to righteousness or follow the world. There are so many things going on in this world that are insulting to the Christian minded people. Christians have a right to have rights just like any other religion. We Christians don't accept the ways of the world but we must live with it just like non-Christians do not accept the ways of Christians but they must live with it. Look at the direction this world is going..its coming to an end. I hope and pray more people will accept Jesus into their hearts.

I like what some of you said. Amanda said the word I was looking for.."Sunday Christians." People that are only wannabe christian on sundays. And the rest of the week they live by the standards of the world. I'm not talking about Sunday Christians here people, I'm talking about why Christians (the true followers of Jesus everyday of their lives) are criticized for believing. I know what the news says about the Evangelical Minister. He is not "Christian". He is a bad example of how true Christians live their lives.

I do not know exactly why Christians are often criticized. Although, this has always been a battle, and a never ending one I am afraid. For some I do think that they may be jealous in ways of not having a relationship with God like some Christians do, for others it may be that they do not understand nor believe so they feel ridicule for such a thing is appropriate. It all depends on the person and situation too. One thing I must say is there are a lot of people who clam to be Christians but do not fallow the morals of them. I refer to these people as Sunday Christians. Because the only day they seem to act as a Christian is when they are at church. The rest of the week they seem to forget. I think these people are ruining reputations for a lot of Christians. I hope too that more people will accept Jesus in their lives!

It's unfortunate that some people who truly believe they're Christians (and I'm not speaking of all) change the rules a little and don't follow the guidelines of Christianity. Subsequently it gives non-Christians a bad perspective of us, which in turn drives them away from ever wanting to be a believer. Read some of the answers on this sight. It hurts me to see so much anger! Let's face it, there are alot of hypocrites. I know we're human and we do make mistakes, but some know they're wrong, and still don't change. All we can do is pray about it.
I know how frustrating it is to be criticized, but just think about how Jesus felt. He never gave up...He died for us.

Most people in the world are Christian's (Wikepedia) so they are the people that are "following the world". The reason they get criticized is because they want everyone to believe the way they do. I don't go to work and have Jews or Muslims tell me I'm going to hell because I don't think exactly the way they do. I only get that from Christian's. How would it make you feel to have someone that believes in Voodoo put a doll in your chair and tell you that they blessed your office? You wouldn't like it but its ok for me to come to work and have someone tell me they blessed my office with holy water? Get out of here. Christians would be left alone if they left people alone as a whole. People are going to believe what they believe in there own time or not. Who are you to tell them they are wrong? They don't tell you you’re wrong until they feel like they’ve been harassed. Why does your belief half to be my belief? In my eyes it doesn't but it doesn't make me a bad person either. I give money to the poor, if I see someone that needs to be fed and I have food I give it to them, if someone is sad I try to make their day better. I don't have to be a Christian to be a good person. But I can be a good person and have enough respect for other people’s wishes and beliefs to let them believe without trying to brainwash them into thinking they're crazy to believe that because I don't.
Yes, look at the direction the world is going in. If you haven't noticed all of the battles being fought right now are religious battles. The Israelites and the Lebanese are fighting over holy land, The Protestants and the Catholics have been fighting for years and have split a whole country, Bush (our born again Christian)has gone into another country and started another religious civil war and innocent people are being killed for it. I feel the world would be better without religion but I don't go around telling people they're damned because they're religious. I just don't believe what they do. You would get less criticism if you could just believe and leave everyone else out of it. No one knows everyone just thinks they do. That's the flaw of man.

Use of the title does not imply they are living the life they profess. Those who criticize are not only trying to fortify their own position but are prophetically noted that it would come to pass. The same indignation hits many people when ever some new invention comes into play.. they will attempt to convince themselves and others that the invention is just a dream.. it will never work.. wonder how Pasteur, Wright Brothers or the numerous others kept going with all those pessimists knocking them and their goals?

i am sorry to say ... as much as i do not personally critisize Christians or anyone for that matter
i have been subjected to the most horrible comments on these boards and the worse have been from Christians
and to say that they live a clean moral life is wrong .... there are good and bad in every faith and no one is sin free
now to do wrongs in life is one thing .... to do wrongs then claim to be squeaky clean is by far worse
this may be the very reason Christianity gets critisized

People that shove religion down other people's throats are why Christians get criticized. I'm a sinner saved by grace and am willing to tell anyone that ask, get it....ask...but I wait until I'm asked. If you live the life you described above in the 2nd sentence, people WILL notice and start to ask you why you are different, then you can tell them what makes you different and perhaps lead them to the Lord.
Remember this:
Live in such a way that those who know you but don't know God,
will come to know God because they know you.
Let your "actions" speak loud and clear and people will notice.

People criticize Christians, because they can't help but feel that Christians are HYPOCRITES sometimes, like when they ", lie, cheat, steal, rape, molest, murder, or sodomize."
The question then becomes, "Who are you to tell me what to do when you're guilty of the same things?" I think if we Christians can be more humble it would lower the criticism we get.
Look at CHRIST, perfect and sinless as He was, He did not come to codemn but to save. Not to judge others but to help them to a better relationship with God.

I think I'm going to have to defer to Richard Dawkins on this one... Prof Dawkins?
"The god of the old testament is arguably the most unpleasent character in all fiction. Jealous and proud of it. A petty unjust unforgiving control freak. A vindictive blood thirsty ethnic clenser. A misogynistic homophobic racist infanticidal genocidal filicidal pestilential megalomaniacal sadomasochistic capriciously malevolent bully." - Richard Dawkin
Anyone who praises such a character deserves to be criticized in my opinion.

I know this is not what you want to hear unless you're sincerely asking a question instead of just presenting something to get responses you want. Here goes: judgement and rigidity invite the same. People react strongly when basic human rights (e.g. gay rights) and scientific/medical research (stem cells, evolution) are compromised. If there were more love and less sin/hell/judgement, Christians wouldn't be judged as much. We don't see many people judging Zen buddhists. Why? Because they don't try to push their beliefs onto others or have it supported in society (e.g. by making institutions endorse their rituals or practices such as mandatory school prayer, etc.).

Puppy is obviously a moron. Christians make up the majority of prisoners in the US? Well someone tell this idiot that that's called playing the percentages. When 85% of the country is Christian then obviously they will make up the majority of EVERY group in the country. Good and bad. I guess that Christians make up the majority of police officers, social workers and volunteers also!
People hate Christians b/c we live by a set of rules and standards. These haters don't want rules. They want to do whatever they want whenever they want without anyone questioning them. It's ok. They'll have their day of judgement whether they like it or not.
