You don't want to format your hard drive. You will lose everything. You really need the windows 98 disk if you want to re-install your operating system. That way you can re-install without reformating your hard drive and losing everything.

Well, you rather use disk. But you can't go from Windows XP to Windows 98. It won't work. But if you want to format your hard drive, then click Start, Run, then type in command.

Why do you want to go back to W98? If it is because of old software, may I suggest the Virtual PC 2004 from Microsft then. It is free and publically available for several; months now. Simply install it and install Win98 into a Virtual OPC session. This will allow you to emulate the Win98 environ without having the problems with having 98 as your main OS.

Unless you have a compelling reason to go backward from WinXP to Win98, don't do it. Microsoft no longer supports it. Just this morning I tried to update the Norton spyware that is part of the Yahoo toolbar and was told I needed Win2000 or higher.
