We've always called it roasted cheese, but no one else seems to!

I'm in Glasgow. Okay lots of you are coming up with Welsh Rarebit- but I make that too, and its made completely different to roasted cheese. Sorry folks, it's always been roasted cheese for me and it always will be. I'm sure many of you will now sleep that much better tonight knowing that's been cleared up :)

in Ohio we call it grilled cheese.

i have occasionally heard it called toasted cheese sandwich, but not often.

i think it depends upon where & the time period as to what it was called. there isn't a right or wrong.

Roasted implies it is made within the oven, but cheese on toast is usually made under the grill (toasted, rather than roasted). So either you've got an inaccurate name for it, or a novel way of melting your cheese.

Cheese on toast! and it's bloody gorgeous. Never heard of roasted cheese before, but the first thing I thought of when I read it in your question was a box of Camembert being baked in the oven.

it's always just been "cheese toast" here in Alabama
never heard "roasted cheese"

(grilled cheese is a sandwich. we're just talking about a slice of cheese on a slice of bread, right?)
