its still "fruit of the vine", just without alcohol. i just dont think it would be appropriate to serve alcohol in church. the only reason they drank it so much in bible times is because it was safer to drink than water, b/c the water was full of disease.

Grape juice was what Jesus drank at the last supper. Freshly squeezed grape juice was called "new wine". They did not drink wine that causes people to get drunk at the last supper. So why shouldn't our churches of today follow Jesus example?
The drinking of wine was to represent Jesus blood. It did not have to be red in color to do that. The bread that they ate was in no way like the flesh of Jesus. It is all representative of the flesh and blood of Jesus.

I couldn't say for certain, but my guess is that they've failed to understand the symbolism of the wine's PURITY representing the purity of Christ's blood. They read about how it's a sin to overindulge in alcohol and come up with grape juice as a viable alternative. Problem is, at the Last Supper, Christ said, "This DO in remembrance of Me." He meant that the ceremony of Passover/Communion was to be performed with all the symbolism and sanctity thereof in place. Who's right?

The catholic church uses wine just like jesus. The wine used at church typically has a higher content of alchohol to kill any germs to.
The church does sanction the use of grape juice only when the priest (there human to) is an alchoholic.
Oh ya and catholics dont belive that it represents jesus we feel that it is Jesus just in a different form.

Wine is used in the Catholic Church-blood of Christ
The mode of Christ's presence under the Eucharistic species is unique. It raises the Eucharist above all the sacraments as "the perfection of the spiritual life and the end to which all sacraments tend." In the most blessed sacrament of the Eucharist "the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity, of our Lord Jesus Christ and, therefore, the whole Christ is truly, really, and substantially contained." "This presence is called 'real' - by which is not intended to exclude the other types of presence as if they could not be 'real' too, but because it is presence in the fullest sense: that is to say, it is a substantial presence by which Christ, God and man, makes himself wholly and entirely present."

Good question!
The answer is: such a church is afraid of alcohol.
They put forth this silly notion of grape juice so their adherents won't start drinking alcohol.
The Bible (and Jesus) are not afraid of alcohol.
What was Jesus' first miracle? John 2:3 - 10
Conditions for receiving responsibilities are not about NOT drinking! 1 Timothy 3:8
What advice did Paul give Timothy for his stomach troubles?
1 Timothy 5:23
Grape juice is a cheap substitute for church leaders who live in fear their parishoners are not able to control their drinking.

Well, Pastuer actually came up with the Pastuerizing process (hence the name) in order to make grape juice safe to drink. He did this so even children and those who cannot drink alchohol can also participate in Communion.
Wine doesn't hold too much of a significance except that Jesus drank it on His last meal (and prbly most of His meals) and asked his disciples to remember Him and what He did (to forgive our sins) whenever they drink it.
To me, Communion is one of only two rituals that I see as important. The other is Baptism. Those are the only two sacraments Jesus did during His life as a human.

Because supposedly Jesus drank wine at the last supper... wine is made from grapes... so is grape juice. It's suppose to be symbolic of his blood, not look like blood.

Many churches still use wine. Jesus used 'new wine' which was, indeed, unfermented or just lightly fermented grape juice.
