There are two things I should say about your relationship:
1. she still cares about him
2. you shouldn't "spy" her text messages .. you need to trust her..but if you don't, there is a reason ..

She is clearly still in love with her ex. Or maybe she has a strong connection with him and doesn't want to give it up, even though her ex isn't responding. It sounds like you are a rebound. Move on now, so you don't get way more involved.
Girls, or anyone can look happy on the outside and be miserable on the inside. Some people cover it up very well, others don't. Try talking to her and spend more time with her. If she keeps trying to contact her ex, maybe you should move on.

hmmmm, sounds like she is still pretty obsessed with him...if I were you I would sit down and have a long talk about your relationship - explain to her that the fact that she is trying to contact her ex gives you the impression that she is trying to get back togehter with him and that hurts your feelings. After you have this little chat, and she is still trying to contact him, I would break up the relationship. It's not fair to you to play second fiddle to her ex...you deserve much better than that: the FULL attention of a girl! :) And yes, it is quite possible for a girl to act all happy but be torn up on the inside...girls are REALLY good at acting like nothing's wrong when something is, belive me! :)

Man -- what a pickle. Sorry to tell you this, but the gal is still hung up on the ex. If you are her friend, ask her straight out "are you still having feelings for your old boyfriend." Ask her to be straight and honest with you. Let her know what bothers you and that it is probably best if y'all break-up. Find someone that is trying to not play both sides of the field. The more you prolong this the bigger chances you will be hurt worse.

I personally think she needs to hear from him so she can get closure on it. Lots of times we women don't know what you guys think and if you won't talk to us about it, we are totally clueless. I don't know that she has any feelings still for him, but she does need the closure.
I know you don't want to hear this part, but she also might have a thing for him. According to what you said, they were in a longterm relationship and you can't just get over that overnight. Why don't you ask her point blank?

awwww well i think that she really does have feelings for him and she just doesnt want to hurt you.....girls tend to feel horrible when they hurt people so they hide alot of things..all you need to do is confront her about the situation and let her know its bothering you ask her why she is doing that if she is so happy and just have a proper converstation with her....maybe she doesnt realize what she is doing girls can be blind somtimes and they think they arnt hurting anyone when really they are so yea just talk to her and find out her point of view and maybe you guys can come to a conclusion and get everything worked out....good luck with everything
